Maybe I'm jilted because I'm a biased fan and I just know that the NBA toggles how refs call games to maximize revenue and certain interests. But, it seemed clear as day to me that the refs started out the game early gifting the heat a small handful of questionable calls in their favor just so they can cover for the fact that they would spend quarters 2-4 allowing the Knicks to play an entirely different brand of physicality than the Heat. NBA refs secret sauce is allowing the team they favor to foul off the ball while calling the same fouls on the other team. It stagnated our offense as much as anything else (we didn't do ourselves any favors with all the open misses from 3s to bunnies).

Refs were ready to take a bullet for Brunson last night.

He would’ve went better than the 2-18 we got from Love Lowry and Gabe that’s for fuxkin sure.

Wish Bam would develop a prime Ibaka like 3 ball. Would be huge.

Still holding out hope for the Horford career arc with the 3 ball. Horford is the archetype of player that Bam is most similar to IMO. He's just a juiced up version of Horford.

We haven't had James Williams yet this series, so maybe we get him tomorrow, with Foster and Brothers saved for a potential Game 7 (God forbid).

James Williams gave the Bucks 45 free throws in Game 5 vs. our 17. He's Spo's "favorite" ref.

Miami is shooting 31% from 3pt range in the 2nd round after 5 games.

Game 1 - 33%
Game 2 - 35%
Game 3 - 22%
Game 4 - 33%
Game 5 - 30%

This team has been winning with its defense and getting those 50/50 balls, the 3s haven't been there all series, this is why the effort level seen in game 5 is such a big deal.

It's a team of chuckers. Miami took HALF OF THEIR SHOTS from 3 in Gm 5. Lowry, Vincent, and Love were a combined 2-18 from 3 (iirc).

Miami is simply not going to win if they allow Brunson/Barrett/Randle to combine for anything close to the 88 pts on 52 FG% (27-52) and 44 3PT% (11-25). Those 3 also shot 30 free throws to Miami's 19.

We're not winning anything worthwhile if most of our attempts aren't led by Jimmy, Bam, and Herro. Those roleplayers are not skilled enough to bring deadeye shooting every night. That shouldn't be their responsibility. Should be attempting open shots our big 3 create for them. But I don't like the number of attempts exceeding that of our big 3's attempts. Doesn't seem like a championship winning formula. But I'm no NBA coach.

I just don't get who thought it would be a good idea for Miami to take that many 3s. It's not just that they missed so many this game; Miami has been one of the most miserable 3-point shooting teams all season.

I do agree that Butler can't limit himself to 12 shots. I'd say the same is true for Adebayo, but he just seemingly has 0 interest in being aggressive on offense to the point Miami could depend on him.

NY Knicks were VERY aggressive in limiting Miami's offball movement so that Miami couldn't get to their spots to run their sets. IMO the refs allowing NY to straight up wrestle and restrain Miami's off-ball movement while having a quick whistle on the other end got Miami stuck in the mud. Pair that with early misses and it got ugly.

This team needs to shoot 3s if Butler is going to take the game off scoring but the issue keeping Butler in the game when he's not going to shoot is that he's taking the spot of another 3pt shooter off the court, so at the most you have 3 3pt shooters on the court with Butler and Bam. It's quite possible with 4 3pt shooters out there Miami will get some easier shots for Bam and maybe some guys also attacking the rim.

If Miami were playing with good consistent effort on the defensive end they may not have to worry much about their offense against New York.

It was absolutely insane that the 2nd team came in at the start of the 2nd quarter and play like the 7 seconds or less Suns after Miami held New York to 14 points in the previous quarter. Lowry was one of the guys pushing the pace with the backups against some of NYs starters.

Just looking at the start of the 2nd quarter.

Lowry shoots a 3 with 12 seconds on the clock - miss.
Zeller gets a close shot with 8 seconds left - made.
Martin takes a 3 with 15 seconds left - miss.

NY makes a floater and have now scored 10 points in 1 minutes, 49 seconds after scoring 14 in the first 12 minutes. That was a time Lowry needed to take control of the pace and try to get NY out of their offensive flow.

If Jimmy and the shooters are more of the same game 6 and Bam is shooting 70% from the field I hope Spo adjusts and starts running some scoring sets for him like the first 3/4 of the season. Mitchell and Hartenstein flat out can’t guard him

We need bounce back games from Love Lowry and Gabe and for Jimmy to be more of what we’ve seen from him this series in Miami. Get that and we’re good, should be a blowout.

I was reading through the Knicks forum last night. There was approximately 5 or more posts about hoping Foster referees the next game. It's kind of insane.

I'm sure there would be a good amount of money to have a game 7 in New York.

Can't blame them....

2022 PS: 0-3 against Foster (including Game 7 vs. BOS at home when we ****ed out of a Strus 3)
2023 RS: 0-5

We've lost our last 9 games overall against Foster. Dude's a beast....and can choke on a fat one.

It bodes well if Foster is assigned for gm6. As former avid bettor did several po seasons determining plays based off ref stats & shown to be successful in those seasons hitting high % clip.

What i found was each time a crew chief ref is assigned the 2nd time in the same series the result is usually the opposite frm the 1st gm. Esp if it involves a heavy gm influencer such as The Extender. Of course the pattern wasn't 100% but it was reliable.

We better hope we don't get Brothers who was assigned in gm1 that we won. If so we cld see us drop gm6 to head back to NY for a huge gm7 where Foster will be sent having the public think Miami will lose but will be the complete opposite outcome, simultaneously creating a public blood bath pouring in money for vegas/bookies.
If u don't want 2b here, the way things work, u don't like it, then don't b here. U have 2 stand on something. If Miami ain't standing on something, they become alot of these organizations trying 2 find their identity. This is the culture, bro -Wade
