Maybe some of these assistant coaches are gonna be great head coaches. You can't be Spoelstra in the blink of an eye. Who knew Nick Nurse when he was Casey's assistant? Hiring Nurse, it was a big risk. And he turned to be really good. Also, a few years ago, the majority of the fans thought that Tyron Lue was a joke. And now, the majority of basketball fans respect him because he did a good job with the Clippers.

Having said that, this is a very crucial summer for the Bucks. The consequences of Horst's decisions will echo for many years, i think. This is no time for experiments. I am not a basketball expert, but i wouldn't gamble our future. Safest options are the best options right now. Of course There is no 100% safe option when choosing a coach because even the best coaches might have bad seasons. There are also chemistry matters. Some very good coaches don't fit with very good players. But there are more safe choices than others.

Personally, i would prefer Nurse or Lue. I would consider Vogel too. Udoka would be a good choice too, but it's too late now.
If noone of them is coaching our team next year, i would be kinda terrified.

So, if Horst would like to gamble our future by not choosing Nurse/Lue/Vogel, he should go all the way. You wanna risk everything? Do it like a boss. Bring Zelimir Obradovic, one of the greatest coach of our times. You want x's and o's? He is maybe sharper than Spoelstra or Nurse. I don't believe he would agree, because he is old school European, meaning that American players won't tolerate his behavior, when he will be screaming and yelling in their faces. And he knows it. Truth is, he may seems like a dictator, but most of his players love him.
I bet Giannis would love him too. Every well disciplined player with work ethic will love him.

But, this is not my primary choice. Because Zeliko, in all his greatness, would still be a great risk.
Nick Nurse, Tyron Lue, Frank Vogel. Just get one of them, choose wisely with trades and stuff too, and a comeback year is on its way. Hopefully.

Exactly what I want to know too. Are Woj and Shams oblivious to the fact that he is the top candidate available? Why wouldn't they at least drop a nugget about whether there is interest there or not as of yet?

I doubt any of the names leaked so far have come from the Bucks. They've come from other teams when we've requested permission or from agents trying to make it appear their client is in demand. Since Nurse is not under contract we don't have to request permission. Nurse's name hasn't come up for any opening since he was let go. Everything has been under the radar.

That doesn't mean we're interested in him of course, we may not be. And he could be waiting to see if any other jobs open up. But not having his name leaked out doesn't mean much imo.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Yes. Probably depends on who we give up but ....yes.

It’s because a lot of people on this board are trying to factor in context to some extent when judging coaches rather than just blindly looking at W/L lol.

Like for example, and this is just my personal opinion here, but it might be easier to make the playoffs when you have Kevin Durant.

Atkinson had Durant on the Nets. Just didn't utilize him properly....

I'd be on board with a legit European coach (ex. Itoudis) but the NBA game is more about massaging egos, load-management, and babysitting as opposed to going for W's (especially in the regular season).

Can't they just let the players coach themselves?

Sign Redick as a player/coach?

This is always my favorite part of the coaching search - when random names are thrown into the mix that has everyone thinking "WTF?! NOT HIM!"

Waiting for the tweet re: JVG and Mark Jackson.

Get Scott Brooks then acquire KD/Harden/Westbrook to team up with Giannis.

Serge can join too if he wants.

If I was Horst, I would throw out rumors of Kidd, Jackson, and gard to lower expectations.

Jerry Sloan would stretch his cadaverous arms out of the cold earth and strangle your rabbit ass for doubting him.
