Re: Bud Appreciation Thread
There's a big difference between a guy who was all NBA 4 times and an all star 6 times, and a guy who has never made all NBA and been an all star 3 times
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

You can make that case about Manu but Parker was a 6x All Star, 3x All NBA 2nd team, 1x All NBA 1st team, and a Finals MVP. He most likely gets in regardless
Parker was a very good player no doubt, but his main credential for all nba was also being on a winning team.
Do we really think he was ever the best PG in the nba?
Also, just a note that he was never 1st team All NBA. 2nd team 3x, 3rd team 1x.
Yes, typo on my end. My apologies

Re: Bud Appreciation Thread
I'd take the Manu/Parker combo over Middleton/Jrue. The part missing in the analysis is Parker's brains. He was able to control the court. Super disciplined and always made the right reads. We never had anyone like that.

Manu would have been in HOF for his international career alone

I remember when San Antonio was getting pilloried for not trading Parker for Kidd when they had the opportunity to before Parker's 2nd year. Of course they won the title that year. Over Kidd's Nets.

Just naming random teammates I’d take over Jrue and Khris.

Begrudgingly I'd accept prime Curry and Thompson over Jrue and Khris

here in NC which is fairly hardcore basketball country everybody i know also knows im a huge bucks fan. im completely tired of apologizing for us firing bud. random basketball fans aware of this move think it was the ultimate dick brain move. its not helping my mental status. like here im against it but in public settings im trying to defend his firing as a diehard using the rationale. nobodys buying it.
god im still shattered over this

I really hope Bud lines up the successor of Pop job. Seems like the perfect fit.

Re: Bud Appreciation Thread
I went back and listened to the Locked on Bucks episode from when we hired Bud, it was a fascinating listen. Some of the things that caught my attention
-Giannis made it clear he didn't make to make the decision of who was hired, he just wanted to be informed and in the know
-Frank asks if in 5 years we'll look back on the list of candidates and if Bud will be the best among those, turns out that answer was yes he was
-Frank also hopes to be able to retire the phrase "Never Trust the Bucks"
-Eric calls Bud flexible with his defensive schemes & a great tactician.
-Both bring up the number of 3s Bud's defenses in Atlanta allowed
-Eric mentions how going from Kidd to Bud means that we likely won't have to be worried about the Bucks being actively hurt by their coaching
-some fans thought it was interesting Jabari wasn't included in the Giannis/Khris breakfast
-Eric brings up the history of Bud developing guys in Atlanta and many vets would go to Atlanta and play their best basketball
-Frank & Eric bring up how bringing Atlanta's development staff over should really help Giannis specifically
-Eric asks whether Bud will make Giannis fit into his offensive system or whether he will build a system around Giannis, noting that in Atlanta they fit players into the system but Atlanta didn't have a Giannis
-Frank says the best way for Bud to impact the immediate future is to develop Thon & Jabari. Whoops
-Frank mentions how Bud got less and less forthcoming over time with the Atlanta media and wonders if coming to Milwaukee will change that
-Frank wants Bud to run a switch heavy scheme and thinks they have the personnel for that, fwiw we hadnt signed Brook yet
My favorite part from the episode though, Frank says the goal for year 1 is to win 50 games & win a playoff series. And if Bud can do that he'll be a God in Milwaukee

It’s possible we just fired the most successful five year tenure guy ever, when you look at W-L record and a title.

Plausible a Nick Nurse comes in and leads us back to the Finals. That said, I’d take better than even odds that were saying the same thing above about Grayson, Wes, Jingles, Jevon, Bobby, Jae, etc a year from now.
We really only had 4.5 playoff caliber performers for a core 8-9 man rotation.
Giannis, Khris, Jrue, Pat and 1/2 for Brook, since he’s matchup dependent.
Think people are understanding now what Bud did.
