Or that Nurse is out there, but they don't agree with his contract demands.......yet.

I kind of assumed it was the former. Maybe also out of respect for Bud?

Can’t see it being the latter. Mainly because they would’ve discussed expectations before canning Bud and relative to player payroll, coaches just don’t make that much. They’d be squabbling over a million or two bucks per year. REAL money to us, but megabucks billionaire oil guy? Doubt it.

My new working theory is Giannis caught them a bit off guard and told them it was time to move on. Now conducting a full search. No evidence other than his somewhat icy post series comments and this is the only reason I could see firing a successful coach without having the next guy already lined up for the introductory press conference.

Organization can not, under any circumstances, hire a coach who A) has never coached anything meaningful before B) came to Milwaukee in a trade and dogged it for 3 months before riding off into the sunset and then proceeded to talk **** about the org.

Don't care that he's nice to Giannis in the press and has a decent podcast.

There are very good plane connections between Mke and Tor. Maybe Redick was going to Tor.

Is he not the most Kerr-esqe guy out there though? Aside from rings?

I guess with all the slander being thrown at Kerr these days, I’m not exactly sure if Kerr-esqe is good or bad?

Assume you mean in a good way.

I think Redick is a really smart basketball mind. And X’s and O’s guy. Anyone who listens to his podcast would get that. I have no idea how he’d manage a roster, but he’s certainly relatable.

The only way I think you do someone with no head coaching experience is if you also blow up the core around Giannis and reset.

Otherwise I agree with others who say you have to get someone with experience.

I see a lot of "eloquent speaking white guy/former NBA role player with a podcast that went to Duke so therefore he must be smart and capable to coach an NBA basketball team" energy going on with the national Reddick discourse and I don't know whether to *eye roll emoji* or just be sad that this is still a thing in media circles.

Dude has never coached a high school game let alone anything to do with an NBA organization. Hard pass.

HEY, don't try to change anyone's preconceived notions based on nothing! That is not how the internet works.

But seriously, I am not a huge Redick fan, but I am not sure if the origins of that are more the Toby trade from back in the day. I've listened to that podcast maybe one time and he seemed like a dude that understands basketball at a high level and seems like a dude that would be open to trying unconventional stuff which would be cool.

BUT all that said, I kind of thought the same thing about Nash and he demonstrated that just knowing bball at a high level isn't really enough. Same goes for Kidd and I am sure a bunch of other former players.

What would it take to get Carlisle, still think that is the move that takes us over the hump. Do what it takes to add a PG and run it back one more time might be the right move.

You know what maybe JJ wouldn't be so bad. I think he'd be smart enough to surround himself with a very strong staff to make for the gaps. Could be interesting. Only thing is he's a a-hole for doing us dirty, not sure I can get over that.

All I can think interviewing a guy who has never coached before on any level is that they’re trying to dampen the expectations of signing an experienced championship level coach. Either that or Horst is an unqualified idiot himself and thought the better.

Per Jake Fischer looks like Lue and Monty “are on our radar”. Lue would be great, Monty would piss me off.

I don't know how you fire Bud for his postseason failures and would then try to sell a fanbase on Monty Williams given how the Suns have fared in the playoffs the last few years.

Agreed this makes zero sense at all. Bud is preferable to all but potentially 2 options those being Nurse or Lue. The only way one of these lesser options makes sense is if Giannis demanded Bud get fired which I just can’t see.

I don't think Giannis demanded a coaching change but I do think he embraced it when it was discussed with him.

I think Monty is a good coach but definitely not the right coach for us. Pass.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

There's no chance you fire Bud for Monty. That'd be terrible

Yeah this one also falls into the “I don’t think Horst sucks *that* much but we’ll see” bucket for me, along with the Scott Brooks and Doc Rivers stuff.

Would be insane to hire Monty Williams, ya know, the guy Bud out-coached in the Finals.
