Jokic should be recognized as the clear best player in the league at this point. Unfortunately I don’t think he’ll truly get the recognition he deserves until he wins a championship. For example, in the Eastern Conference semi-finals in 2008-09, LeBron recorded a PER of 47.7 (after going 41.1 in the opening round). By comparison, Jokic was an incredible 38.7 against the Suns.

Another thing is whether context matters - for example, Jokic might shade Giannis in the 2021 Finals a little bit statistically but the latter was obviously far more important. So you might value the latter more.

I think Hakeem vs Robinson in 1995 is the greatest individual series in playoff history not just for Centers but at any position.

But one series not mentioned so far:

Patrick Ewing vs the Boston Celtics in 1990.

The first two games of the series looked like the Dream Team vs all their opponents at Barcelona 1992.

Boston was the far superior team overall vs the underdog Knicks.....but they just could not stop Ewing.

Greatest come from behind against the odds individual performance by anyone much less a Center in NBA playoff history imho. Ewing played like a top 5 ever Center that series.
