Did the Spurs maximize their '12-'17 window?

That's basically their time with Kawhi and when Pop decided to re-invent the team somewhat after the humiliating 1st round loss to Memphis in 2011.

Their records for the 6 years were:

'12: 50-16
'13: 58-24
'14: 62-20
'15: 55-27
'16: 67-15
'17: 61-21

They basically averaged 61-21 for that period, made the conference finals 4 times, the Finals twice, and won one chip.

Should they have done better given the players they had?

No I think they did the maximum they could have done.

You can argue they underachieved in '16, but the Thunder always matched up well vs them.

For 2016,they underachieved in the playoffs(it was still against a great team) but they overachieved like crazy in the regular season.Duncan was not the same player from the 2012 to 2015 period

2013 was obviously a missed golden opportunity, having two games to close out the Heat and coming razor close both times. 2015 was another big missed opportunity. They got to the playoffs healthy but unlike the 2014 title season they lost their 7 game first round series instead of winning it. SA would have handled Houston in the 2nd round setting up an epic WCF vs GS.

Crazy how close they might have been to a threepeat.
