You might be right.
Trade Pritchard this offseason. And slide Madar or JD into his Pritchard's role as an end of the bench guy who occasionally gets mins when we have injuries to our other guards.
I think many on here would like to see it be JD who gets that spot - he has higher upside. BUT Madar is 2 years older, has more experience playing pro ball and is the better shooter. While JD has more long term upside, Madar could be the guy who's more ready to contribute in the short term.
I'd say at this point, they're both about even defensively.
I'm hoping that we see both of them on the Summer League team this year - along with Begarin and anyone we draft this June.
Obviously shooting isn't everything but Madar is shooting 43% from 3 this season, 41% last season. Davison meanwhile is shooting 30% this season in g league and 30% last season in college. That's a pretty big gap.

Agreed. Anything could happen between now and then but like you said between age, experience etc he could hypothetically get minutes over Davison in higher leverage situations when they need to go to the bench.

Agreed. I'd say with a good SL, Madar has the inside track and maybe you give JD one more go in the G League.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Could definitely be worth the callback next summer.
Madar packing his bags soon... (No, it's not what it sounds like)

Re: Welcome to Virtual Boston, Yam Madar!
Benas Matkevicius has been the international scout for the Boston Celtics going on his ninth year with the historic franchise.
On the latest episode of View From The Rafters Podcast, Matkevicius shared an update on the Celtics’ two draft-and-stash international players in Yam Madar (Partizan) and Juhann Begarin (Paris).
Here’s what he said about Madar, who was a bit raw and undersized the last time he was with the Celtics in 2021 Summer League.
“Yam has a really important defensive role. He’s always pressuring the ball and providing the team with energy

Yam’s also got a ~3% steal rate this year fwiw.

Yeah, JD has starter potential. I’m very excited about him but like with PP, it’ll likely happen elsewhere as vets are thoroughly blocking either from ever getting minutes and that won’t change for at least two more years barring major injuries

I would think we'll see all 3 of them on the summer league team this year

Re: Welcome to Virtual Boston, Yam Madar!
The latest Yam game:
The good: good energy, he plays hard. Crafty and skilled to get the ball in the hoop. Again, in this game we see that go-to move of his, where he starts driving to the rim, then quickly pumps the breaks, plants his pivot foot, does a spin move and hits the turnaround jumper. He seems to make the shot every time when he does this move.
The bad: defense. He tries hard. But there's a few plays in this video where you see that he just doesn't make enough impact defensively - cause he's so small - guys are able to just shoot right over him, drive by him, throw passes to the roll man right over him - as if he's not even there. As a result, Partizan gives up a bunch of easy baskets, and then Madar is benched for most of the 2nd half - and pretty much the whole 4th quarter, finally going back in during garbage time at the very end.
Yam looked really good defensively, but that was when he was in the Israeli league, which is much weaker competition than this game in the vid above, which is EuroLeague (best league in the world, after the NBA).
Also, it's not like I'm drawing this conclusion about Yam from just this 1 game. I've seen footage of many Partizan games this season and this is a recurring theme, that he is not impactful enough defensively.
JD and Yam are both listed at 6'3", but JD definitely plays bigger. JD can jump way higher has got to have a considerable amount of lbs on Yam, and likely has a longer wingspan too.
Side note - Dante Exum looked really good this game. He's looked good in many games this season for Partizan. Wouildn't shock me if he makes a return to the NBA next season.

Hope we see him in summer league this year.
Madar, Davison, Begarin, Champagnie. Solid start to a summer league roster. Add in whoever we take with our 2nd round pick next month. Plus Kabengele, possibly. Perhaps an UDFA that we sign as well..

It will be interesting to see which player has made the most progress: Madar at Partizan Belgrade or Davison in Maine.

Madar is playing in games with much higher stakes, for arguably the best basketball coach in the world who is also notorious for being ultra demanding of his players. If Madar isn't getting better in that environment, he's never going to improve. Under Stevens, the Celtics have poured a lot more resources into their G-League team but there's no way Davison is getting that kind of coaching. Although it's a natural question to ask considering they play the same position it's a bit unfair to JD.
