Re: Bucks Offseason Thread - Trade, news, re-tool discussion
As much as I love Jrue, Khris and Giannis, if you keep all three of them, it doesn't matter who you bring in additionally as the ball is going to end up being dominated by the three of them in the playoffs. None of them are good enough play makers to run a better halfcourt offense. No way should anyone be on board with trading Giannis, so either Khris or Jrue need to be used to find the best playmaking guy they can get. I personally would lead toward trading Jrue as I believe he probably holds more value right now, and he does not have the shot making ability of Khris. We need to change one out for a guy with enough clout to be top 3 in the pecking order, and that guy has to be a play maker. I don't see any other path to securing a guy good enough to be top three on the team while still keeping our current big three.

I desparately want us with a floor general to put alongside Giannis

Agree with a lot of this, especially if doctor consensus is that Khris still has knees. Trick is there aren't a lot of playmaking types on the market-- 39-year-old CP3 doesn't do it for me.
I personally believe Maxey has some playmaking chops if given the role. The consensus on the Philly board the other day was that they would accept a Holiday/Portis for Maxey/Harris based swap. I'm taking that and running if you can sell it to Morey. Sheer speed would help this team almost as much as playmaking ability.

It'd make me a bit sick to my stomach but I'd do that. Harris being a large expiring would be nice.

You're pretty much signing up to pay Maxey the max in a year, but I think he makes our offense more dangerous and effectively extends the window. Tobias would be a nice deadline chip as an expiring, as you said.

Have to think that Quickley and Toppin will be made available again this summer

How much can we extort in a Middleton-Poole-swap? It needs (minor) filler so we're talking Middleton for any comibination of Poole and Payton, Kuminga or Moody. Then we're talking draft assets. GS is surprisingly flush for a team at the tail end of their championship run. They have #19 this year and have access to all their later FRPs.
I could see us being able to pull something like Poole, Kuminga and a FRP.

Trading Midds for Poole feels like a panic move. I get the temptation but you’re banking on him making a significant leap coming here and out from behind the splash brothers’ shadow. If he’s simply the same guy he is now but with a higher usage that we’ll give him, we’re screwed.
Maybe I’m a nit but I’d probably rather bet on Midds still having a couple of good years left in the tank (especially with a full offseason under the belt).
We’re in a tough spot. Moving on from Midds or Jrue is a huge move to make for where we’re at.

I think we’ve got something decent in AJ and Marjon. Hopefully the new coach can invest a bit more in them than Bud seemed too. Otherwise move on from some of the older guys and bring in some younger unappreciated wings who’ve shown some promise from deep (the gabe vincent, Caleb Martin types). They’re out there, we have just got to snag one or two of them.

You don’t even have to expect that. If he continues to improve (which he did from last season to this season even though the narrative is that he got the bag and is now chilling) Poole’s deal will look pretty good.
I feel like the perception of what Poole is is heavily warped by all the limelight and the expectations in the Bay Area. And I feel we can pounce on that.

Agree with this outside of the AJ bit. He’s a standstill shooter and nothing else.

Actually AJ is an even better shooter out of a PnR, hopefully our new coach will run more offensive sets. We should absolutely sign AJ to a real contract this summer, see if he puts in the work this offseason and moves up the depth chart

You got to remember Poole got punched out by Draymond Green. So I'm sure there's bad blood there. Poole just needs a change of scenery.

CP3 for Grayson, Bobby, Pat? Bring the big 4 back and go all in next year. Am I crazy?

That’s kind of the issue with Bud’s drop defense and wanting the team to focus on not fouling more than being aggressive. Teams and/or specific players can get very comfortable and find their grove.
In the regular season with a good roster it’s a recipe for 50+ wins because you’re playing the percentages. In the postseason, it never succeeded outside of the year Jrue and PJ ignored Bud’s strategy and their intensity became infectious.
