My favorite Sixers game ever, maybe even my favorite sporting event (along with UT-Bama 1982).

If you haven't ever seen it, I can't recommend it highly enough.

I was almost 6 months old when this game was played...But...It's funny that you posted this because I went on Youtube the other day and finally searched for and watched the infamous Andrew Toney game. The hope for me is that Maxey or Harden end up replicating the same thing with Joel filling the role of Erving in that game.

Andrew Toney, my favorite Sixer ever. Would have been a HOFer if he hadn't hurt his foot

Hit the open shots and do the little things correctly.

I'm willing to let their guys not named Brown n Tatum shoot the rock. It's not sustainable for most of them
.

What does this mean? You don't think their role guys can stay hot from 3 throughout a game. In all of the celtics wins this season thats exactly what happened.

You just know the nba wants a Celtics Versus Lakers NBA finals . The two most successful storied franchises ever!……My guess is the three zebras or stooges will have orders to give the majority of the 50-50 calls to the Celtics

Hence why we need to establish and maintain a comfortable enough lead at all times where the refs won't be as much of a factor. The tighter the game is, the more likely we are to lose it on a blown call by the refs.

Regardless the start is the key

Take the crowd out of it early
Take the three stooges out of being influential factors
Team play with more confidence

Harden has to be assertive
Embiid attack Horford and get him into foul trouble
Maxey push the pace
Harris hit his shots
Tucker being aggressive menace and get the loose balls

The Sixers don't need to have an immediate adjustment to the Celtics double Big lineup.

You have to try to shoot it off the court, but if that isn't working. They're winning on the boards and you have to grind it out, it may be time to add in Reed with the starters for a spark. Maybe even the other center to allow for Joel to roam

We adjusted in the second half against it.

Rob Williams was -5 NetRtg on vs off. Their starting unit was a 0 NetRtg, where the 5 man unit that really beat us was with Brogdon, instead of Rob Williams with 75NetRtg.

We also generated a lot of good looks with Rob Williams in the second half.

If there’s anything to figure out next game is, whats the plan B if our shooting wont drop. Do we explore playing Milton and Korkmaz? Do we run actions and let Embiid do his thing against multiple defenders?

I hope Celts run double big next game. I just hope we make our open corner 3s, compared to last game.

Another thing to think about is..

How do we deal with Tatum hunting Maxey in crunch time? It has been their staple in the last 2-3 games.

???

Rob Williams has the best +/- of the entire game with Smart, mostly because of the first quarter. And yet, his +/- in the third quarter is +2 and we won that quarter by 9. Most of our big runs happened with Williams out of the floor.

The Robert Williams unit you highlighted played 5 minutes in the second half and their Netrtg was 0, which happened because timelord minutes were mostly paired with Embiid. Do you know what's our starting unit Netrtg in the second half? -25....

Even with Niang out there our offrtg is 94.7 pts and that's the lineup with more minutes, i doubt Niang is gonna become a Tatum stopper again like he was in that game. We obviously need a serious adjustment for the double big lineup tomorrow if we even want to even come close to sniff a win.

We generated good looks on the corner by design, they are giving us the corner 3, if you look at a map of open shoots you're gonna see majority of them are on the corner because they don't care.

PJ took 7 3s and he's a low-volume shooter, we have 34 3s in that game, he took almost 1/5 of our entire shoots.

probably will post once more pregame

but for my mental health (shout outs to Ben), I will not be watching this one.

I legit turned into a rage monster at the end of last game lol..can't do that again on mothers day of all days too.

I will probably scoreboard watch because I am a sick individual but unless by some grace of god we are up by a bunch in the 4th...I cannot actually watch this time.

This can go a few ways...either the Celtics have found their mojo and its a blowout...or they also feel the pressure in front of their home fans and play tight. Despite the above angst..It does seem like we have figured something out defensively that causes problems tho....but you have to wonder how much of that is variance? Feels like shooters are still open...just missing. I am glad I won't be able to see what feels like the inevitable Horford hits 10 3s game lol.

As for our offense? I just want the big two to go out swinging if nothing else. Biid has been too tentative and soft at times IMO. Harden still relies on the 3 going in and the double big lineup will curtail his drives so even more so. But this is put up or shut up time for both....if we lose due to the Celts going on a heater I need both to still have 30 a piece at least...this CANNOT be an effort loss.

But again I won't put actual eyes on it...gonna only look at this game if we are up by a sizable amount with a minute left...I think I did the same last year in the raptors game (then Biid got his face broke lol....so maybe I'll wait a bit still).

They crushed my soul last game....got to recharge away from it this time ha

It's like Milwaukee with Grant Williams last year game 7. You try to see if PJ comes out ready to hit 7 3s. Gotta let Melton or whoever take them though. Williams went 7 for 18 from 3pt land.

If it ain't working, maybe just grinding it out and matching their double Big is an option.

I think the key is find a way to slide Maxey to the corner, which is a thing we found last game was super effective.

Maybe we can try with PJ on the dunker sealing timelord when Maxey drives from the there.

Don't know, packing the paint sounds awful but i'm just freelancing ideas

Not really a strategy they can pick up in 1 day, but double him

No need to stress it out.

Spend time with your family.
Spend time with your wife.
Spend time with your mom.

We’ll win this.

Tobi needs to take 3s and be aggressive. Melton needs to stay aggressive too. Both those guys are capable of hitting 3 in a row

I’m too stressed.
The game is 10.30 PM to me in Istanbul today. And I’m still undecided whether to watch it or not.

My wife and kid are in Korea for vocation, so I’m all alone. Going to the park rn to reed a book, but all I really think about is how I will feel if the Sixers lose. I’m not optimistic at all, but we’ll see.

This sounds weird but if you want to remove that stress, watch G6 again. If you dont have time, just watch the 2nd half. Honestly, ive watched it 3x already. 2nd and 3rd time made me come out more confident we’ll win this where we’ll shoot hotter than fish grease.

Try to watch some movies on streaming sites. I just watched Air and Pope’s exorcist. Now watching the covenant. Lmao

Then later tonight we’re gonna dine out with my family. Take some melatonin. Sleep 2-3 hours and wake up at 330am to watch the game. Feels like we’ll win this one. I like how the game ended, specially for casual fan’s impression.

You have a very good mental health lol.

I’ve been able to watch it Friday morning in repeat until Tatum 3PT over Embiid for Boston to take 1-pt lead. I just knew it was over, closed the game and opened the scoreboard lol.

Sixers win this game and it’ll be an all time franchise series victory. 3/4 on the road in Boston? Whew. We lose and they are who we thought they were. Low emotional floor. High ceiling.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
