That Klay is a bum now

Also not that far off from being truthful. Not sure he adds much to a team nowadays if he's not making 3s.

He's a player making 43 mil per year on the basis of shooting 3s at a high volume with efficiency.

Whaaaaat. Youre supporting Curry? Wow, we totally didn't see that coming.

I am quite sure Hakeem's teammates were left open. You should probably watch other players other than Steph Curry if you want to know how good Steph Curry actually is.

And if anything that video shows how terrible Klay Thompson was. No one respected him anymore.

Olajuwon is far better than the rest really and he could be considered just outside the top 5. His defense is arguably greatest ever.

I swear posters keep adding the name of Kobe just as click bait.

Find someone else to pick on. He’s dead for crying out loud.

Why the space between Hakeem and the rest?

Had Bird 8, Kobe 9, Curry 10, and Hakeem 11 before in the "Preliminary RealGM's PC's board All-Time NBA ranking" thread, but now I am putting Russel at 11 stead of 13, so Hakeem at 12. Russell was not in the discussion, hence the space.

Bill Russell is your 11th greatest player of all time? Why so low? Just curious.

Who are your top 15 players, in order, if you don't mind me asking?

Hakeem comfortably(era-relative). Curry is more valuable in the absolute

It was from last year's thread. I know it is not a popular opinion.

Kobe
Bird

Hakeem vs Curry interesting. Generally I feel people overrate Hakeem

Seems more likely you overrate perimeter players. You likely inherently think they are superior because they are more iconic and they are your favorite players.

I don't want to use "so low" for Russell as he is still one of the ATGs. It is my personal view of the 60s basketball and I will have him much higher if viewed just by career achievement.

It's always fascinating to me how you differentiate these two ways of ranking so easily.

I feel if anything he generally gets underrated(not so much here) but among general fans. So many take for granted that guys like Bird or even Magic should be ahead of him and that Hakeem is only there because MJ took two years off.

I was a big Hakeem fan in the 90s. It's no disrespect to his career, but it doesn't stack up to Kobe or Bird or the Top 10. With Curry though, it's an interesting debate

It's definitely a factor. For those of us old enough to remember, the NBA was in a major decline during those years. They even moved the 3pt line in lol.

Big reason for this was the old stars being done and the new talent hadn't came in or were brand new(like Shaq). So the 94/95 season had no MJ and weak teams overall. Compare this to the 80s or 00s where the NBA was very deep. In fact, this has always been a criticism of MJ's career, because frankly, he didn't have to face the same level of teams in the 90s. But that's why it's hard to compare players from different eras

I think the west in the 90's was way stronger than it was in the 80's. Sure there were no super teams outside of a couple Bulls teams but neither were Hakeem's Rockets so its sort of a moot point imo. If anything Bird and Magic had it easier playing on stacked teams in a league with only a couple real challengers. The Rockets in 95 beat something like 4 teams that won 55+ games and without hca in any series. All of this just to say that if anything he gets underrated, especially if people didn't see much of him and don't understand his combo of athleticism+skill.
