While I think Joker is the best player in the league right now, 3 mvps - and especially 3 in a row - put you in the company of some of the most legendary players that ever played the game, and so I agree that they should hold off on giving a player his 3rd trophy before he proves himself. At this level just being good is not enough, you need results.

But to answer the question, Joker wasn't robbed, Tatum was. He's had more success with the Celtics than anyone could reasonably expect, he made conference finals and took LeBron to 7 games in his rookie year, he always delivers in the playoffs, and this season he had the numbers and the team record to back it up. He should have been the mvp.

When will white people catch a break?

Yeah they have the highest suicide rate per capita in the country. They’re definitely catching all the breaks aren’t they

The only reason he didn’t win is because he’s already won which is stupid.

So basically it's a regular single season award, but once you've won two the criteria actually changes to something else, but only for one player?

not even close
compared to Jokic, Embiid and Giannis his numbers were much worse. He is very inconsistent, he had more then 20 games where he shot less then 40% from the field. He had multiple games shooting less then 30%. Jalen Brown was closer to him then he was to Jokic/giannis/embiid

The MVP is flawed in the sense that it doesn't include playoff performances. It should take both regular and post season into consideration.

I don’t know you’re the one with an axe to grind against an entire race of people. Why don’t you list the other stats? They probably all pale in comparison to the statistic about one’s will to live

Imagine being the "most valuable" player in the league and then **** on your teammates by saying "I can't do it alone" after you play horrible in a playoff series (they actually win a game without you as well).... How "valuable" can you be when you pull something like that???? That's an insane level of deflecting blame and thinking your **** don't stink all while crapping on your teammates.

He had a great individual regular season no doubt, but he isn't a true leader and there are at least 3 or 4 guys who are more "valuable" to their teams. Harden is really that team's setup guy and Maxey and Harris are also very capable scorers. They are a playoff team without Embiid IMO and with him they're a 2nd round exit team so he doesn't really raise the ceiling as much as some of the other elite players in the league.... at least not with that team and that system.

But yeah Jokic should have won it.

Nah he wasn't robbed. Both of them had good arguments for getting it. Embiid coming up small the last two games isn't a reason to have 20/20 hindsight on a regular season award.

Jokic robbed himself of it. Nuggets had the #1 seed wrapped up and he stopped playing hard with a month to go. No one should win MVP doing that.

Wouldn't say robbed but the last minute media push for Embiid was sickening to watch. I understand Embiid's never won one and there's natural resistance to someone winning 3 MVP's in a row because not even MJ could do it but damn, couldn't just give it a rest.

Isn't that why Magic and Bird trophy in the Conference Finals exist? That's essentially the Playoffs MVP until the NBA Finals.

I agree with first part, it is regular season award.
However you cant even mention the second part since you can't compare the ways they went out. Jokic never underpreformed in the playoffs. He always did his part, and never lost as an favourite.
Embiid's team wasn't the favourite in this series, but if he preformed at least at 70% they would have won, not to mention it is not his first time.

Jokic is by far the better player anyways. Embiid is a better flopper.
