Kind of like it was for the Celtics yesterday against Embiid. It's almost as if basketball is a team game on the defensive end.

Doesn’t happen against Anthony Davis.

Okay. And Anthony Davis can't do half of what Jokic does on the offensive end. He never got past the first round until he joined Lebron.

You’re just making **** up now. The pelicans made the 2nd round in 2018.

My mistake. Not sure how I could forget such a historic playoff run.

It's odd how Davis' elite PnR defence only got him one win against the Warriors though. I thought this was the secret to beating them.

Defense is half of the game.

This is acting like Jokic is 2020 Trae Young on defense.

Magic wasn't a particularly good defender either and he doesn't get **** for it.

Defense from the center position is way more important than from the guard position. He is really bad, especially when he gets hunted by guards.

Honestly, it was a pretty darn good year for AD.

It was. My point is that a single player surrounded by scrubs can't do anything in the playoffs.

Give me 30 current centers better than Jokic on defense.

Or when you can be a 6'9 guard being hidden on defense by all-time great defenders in 3 other positions. Shocking.

He is really bad, especially when he gets hunted by guards.

This is, once again, pure narrative. Yes he gets hunted by guards at several points, but he's still overall a net positive on defense.

Why hasnt that happened in these playoffs so far? Youd think with such a glaring issue for the Nuggets teams would be taking advantage of it and Denver would have a horrific defense in these playoffs so far

Jokic is no different from all these multiple MVP winners - at some point the media gets tired of giving you the award

It happened to even Jordan

If he wins a chip, he will get the "media pass" to get more MVP's again

That's not a valid equivalency. It's not like the only reason Embiid won MVP was to make sure Jokic didn't.

3 MVPs is basically top 10 player territory and voters aren't going to put Jokic there until he wins a championship.

LeBron won 3 MVPs before he ever won a title.

Pretty sure so did Moses.

Voters were probably confident that LeBron would be an all time great.

I don't know if they think the same about Jokic.

Because the coaches of the teams that he's played against were too dumb to spam pick & roll at him relentlessly. This has already been proven to produce layup lines and uncontested 3's whenever you want them.

MVP is a regular season award.

And Nikola Jokic was robbed of it because he had a better regular season than Embiid.

Yes he was robbed thanks to the mainstream media and the narrative they were pushing for a few weeks....they needed a close race for their ratings and everyone was eating it up.

At the end of the day it's just a regular season award, and Embiid has MVP-caliber regular seasons.....the real award will be the Finals MVP which Jokic should have his eyes on....that's the real legacy defining award.

If Jokic was at the end of his career with 3x MVPs, I'm sure if given the opportunity he would trade in all 3 MVPs for 1 Finals MVP

So you think that there is something so obvious that the talking point has been beaten to death on message boards and Twitter. But multiple NBA HCs and players are too dumb to realize to try it out in the playoffs where their jobs (at least for the HCs) are on the line?

Hell why wait for the playoffs, why isnt this the go to gameplan for every team when they face the Nuggets?

Denver has consistently had a top 10-15 or better defense in Jokic's career. Team defense can mask lack of individual defense. We watched Embiid get hunted on defense in game 7 because, like Jokic and basically all big centers, he struggles to defend in space.

Lots of head coaches are too stubborn to change their strategy based on matchups. It happens a lot.
