Are you saying Nurse agreed to a deal and backed or just showed potential interest in your hypothetical? Because there is a big difference

Either one.

If Nurse expressed interest in a phone call w/ Horst (because he would have to talk with him ahead of the firing if he had "a plan"), Horst fires Bud, places call #2 to Nurse only to learn that he's decided he's not interested, how is that on Horst?

If Nurse said I'm all in but then backed out after the firing, how is that on Horst? He can't sign him to a contract while Bud is still the Coach.

And I'm glad you called it my hypothetical. All of this is hypothetical speculation. It seems to me that people really need to stop getting the vapors over stuff when they don't have all the information laid out in front of them.

It matters because in 1 situation Horst got f'd over by Nurse in which case that isn't on Horst, but that also seems like a real Longshot.

I'm irritated because at this point it seems very likely we are going to downgrade at coach and I blame Horst for that because he is the GM

Ironically you can say that about Bud and his 60-win Hawk team.

Yep, I remember being excited by the creativity he showed in Atlanta offensively when we hired him. I'm still pretty pro-Bud tbh but the same line of thinking makes me wonder if we'd see a very different looking offense in Milwaukee with Monty than what we saw in Phoenix.

Was looking at Monty's coaching record. His best team in NOLA and then the Suns were with Chris Paul.

This is actually an interesting point. If Monty ends up being the guy, I think we'll immediately see some Chris Paul to Milwaukee traction take hold. Might not be the worst move...

Still haven’t been linked to anyone who is an obvious upgrade over Bud. If we miss out on Nurse and Lue I hope we can find a younger guy who we think has it in him to develop into a top 3 playoff coach.

I don't know why that accusation keeps getting thrown around.

Something I want to believe is that there's a Potential Hires list and a What is Wrong With Them list and they're trying to triangulate shared characteristics to find out who from the first list belongs on the second list.

Problem is the Suns have no more assets. A Middleton S&T for Paul would be interesting. But we need a lot more coming back

CP3 got hurt in yet another playoffs.

You just can’t count on him when it counts.

If there’s a buy low opportunity cool but you don’t hire a coach specifically to cater to Paul or give up Middleton for Chris unless we’re getting a whole lot else back.

I know advocates of full regime change would be unhappy with this choice, but I would love to see Charles Lee get his head coaching chance here instead of somewhere else.

Something like:

Paul and AJ Griffin to the Bucks
Ayton to the Hawks
Capela and Middleton to Suns

I think the suns would probably do this. I'm not sure if it's actually possible CBA wise unless Mids opts in. The rules get weird with those s&ts.

I’d probably do this, but I’m an AJ Griffin stan.

1) Nick Nurse - maybe we don't want him, maybe he doesn't want us, maybe both, but there's been no mention of him so let's hypothetically take him off the table

2) Ty Lue - still under contract with the Clippers, other teams sniffing around, but not much to suggest the Clippers are looking to move on as of now

Again, you can't have either of them. Who do you hire as coach?

Quinn, Stack, Sam. Gimmie a top experienced coach or give me a new coach.

I'm a Bucks and Suns fan and the fact I joked about them trading coaches and now it's actually a possibility is hilarious.

I like Monty, not my first choice for the Bucks but I actually think he would be good with this team. Good vet players who he can trust and who work hard are the guys you need with him. Giannis would probably love him so as far as him staying it could be a good thing.

With Monty people talk about him being good for a young team and I guess from an establishing a culture standpoint they are right but if a young team hires him they need to be prepared to trade any of their young guy who don't buy in. He just won't play guy he doesn't trust to execute his stuff or work hard. It's been a problem with Ayton from day 1.

It's all about getting someone Giannis would respect and look up to. And Giannis isn't just into the x's and o's. High character needed.

If Monty means Giannis later signs an extension, versus Nurse pissing him off, I'm going with Monty.
