I only see one trade for us this summer. Pritchard for a draft pick. Brad will have a very busy summer, and could very well surprise me, but I don't see it. He worked too hard to get the roster where it is now. Moves will be made, I just don't expect them to be many trades.
I have recently thought it would be best to bring Horford off the bench and start Rob in a one big rotation. However, with seeing the defense the last 2 games against Philly, using our two big system, I'm back on the start Rob and Al together.
Smart, Brown (soon to be signed super max deal), Tatum (soon to be super max extension next season), Horford and Rob Williams.
We all know that White and Brogden would then run the 2nd team. Muscala's option will be picked up. Gallo will pick up his player option and the team will monitor where his rehab is at. Kornet's contract will be guaranteed. Hauser will be back also. That's 11 spots there.
I think a few things need to happen this off season other than trading Pritchard, hopefully after winning the title.
1) trade Pritchard for the best draft pick you can get. JD Davison, I would think will take his roster spot. That's the 11th spot.
2) during the exit interviews, Brad needs to tell Grant that if he will commit to playing the SF spot, keep working the spot up 3's and playing tough defense, and keep his mouth shut to the refs, then he can get a contract offer similar to Robs at 12 mil a year average. (I mean does anyone here think Grant is more impactful to our game then Rob is?) If he has a problem with this, then let him find another club to sign him, we will match it and then trade his butt where we can get the most back from, and he can't do anything about it. No team is going to give him a no trade clause in the contract, so we would certainly have that option. That's the 13th spot, for now.
3) I know I have been saying this a while now, but we need to sign Kabengele to a 4-year minimum contract with the last two years team options. I feel that the reason we didn't sign him this past year to a regular contract was 3-fold. Brad knew he had another year of 2-way eligibility, could still use him if needed for 50 some regular season games and he needed soon major run to develop. Well, he got all that. Now that he can't be signed to another 2-way deal, we need to lock him up long and cheap. The man is 6'10, 250, averaged 20 pts, almost 11 rebounds, shot 34% from 3, 80% from FT, and blocked over a shot per game. I know this was G-League, but I'll take this as my 2nd team big all day long. You certainly don't let him walk away. He's a better shoot, stronger and more active than Kornet. I still bring back Kornet as my 3rd center, but Kabengele would be my back up behind Rob, so Gallo and Muscala could back up Horford. Sorry Blake, but it will be time for you to move on. I love your hustle, and grit, but at 35, we need to get younger with Kabengele. That's the 14th spot
4) Draft the best wing you can. I think that wing should be Jalen Wilson from Kansas. I have mentioned him before.
5) Get our draft pick, Begarin, Madar and Champagine, on the summer league team. There will be one roster spot open for someone. May the best one win it. There will also be three 2-way spots for someone.
