6'2.5 is almost 6'4 in shoes. He's as tall are Jrue Holiday.

Just watch the times where he goes to block guys 6'5-6'6 with 2 hands and volleyball blocks them. He has 1st team all-defensive instincts, timing and body control.

Wingspan is so overrated. Alex Caruso 6'6" wingspan all-nba defender. Tons of players with long wingspans who suck. Tons who have short wingspans who are great.

If a player is a good player you take him. They will find ways to make it work. Looking at wingspan and letting it override or take away from actual gameplay footage and/or statistical productivity in any capacity is a sign of a poor evaluator.

Not sure I agree with this.
There are multiple factors to be a good defender, such as quick hands, quick feet, wingspan, defensive mindset, etc.
However, wingspan still provides better ground coverage, contesting shot, recovery, etc.

As for game play footage, it is hard to apply that to "potential", otherwise, this year first overall pick would be someone with better performance instead of potential.

Jordan Walsh, who I think is the most athletic, best defensive players in the draft absolutely killed at the Combine:

Shooting for a guy that didn't have great numbers at Arkansas, but today he shocked people:
No. 1 Side-mid-side 18/30 (60%)
No. 3 spot-up shooting at 16-of-25 (64.0%)
No. 6 3PT Star Drill 12/25 (48%)

Athletically he is in a special tier:
No. 6 standing vert: 33.0"
No. 5 max vert: 36.0"
No. 3 pro lane drill: 10.83 secs

It is just a set of tests and we will have to see if he scrimmages and works out for teams, but he is going to put himself back on the NBA radar with this.

I think Bufkin measured taller and heavier than expected or previously listed.

Agree. Multiple factors impact great defenders, that's why Marc was able to win the award. However we've seen how disruptive a team full of players with long wingspans can be.

Kobe was supposed to be 6'4 as a SG and was 6'4.25 with a + 3.5 wingspan. Cidy was supposed to be a 6'5 - 6'6 PG and was 6'5.5 withh a +4.25 wingspan...seems like a very slight edge to Cidy to me.

Well the 6'8 was probably a stretch with shoes on then. Still 6'6.5 is taller than the 6'5 reported before the GLeague season.

He still looks like a big 19 year old kid at 224lbs. He's bigger than Demar or VC ever were. Sidy was dunking on adults last season. he has a nice 6'9 wingspan. It makes it more amazing that at this height he's able to take 1 step and dunk it.

Hopefully this means that he will still be around in the 20's and the Raptors can hopefully trade into the end of the 1st round to take Sidy.

Yeah I trust the combine measurements without shoes as a baseline, just thinking a lot of gd short players as well , depends on how u play donovan mitchell, ja morant ,Chris Paul just to name a few , there are 6"8 guys who play like they are 6 ft

I think Wallace will be the best players out of these. If he's available he's the safest player and should be picked.

Players aren't disruptive because they have long wingspans. FVV has one of the shortest wingspans in the league and he's disruptive. Being disruptive is a mentality with anticipatory skills and a willingness to have active hands. Having a long wingspan just allows you to be slightly more disruptive if you have that mentality when an extra few inches happens to make a difference in game situations, which isn't often.

I honestly could care less what a player's wingspan is. If they're a good defender or shot maker, it'll show up in the stats and tape, not in their listed wingspan.
