Funny that the first word is the name of the person the fans DIDN'T want.

LMAO as if the fans are a serious consideration for this type of hire.

Well sure what the fans think/want has no bearing in the decision. Nor should it. None of us have a clue about what's going on behind the scenes.

But we speculate here because that's what this board is about. Opinions, speculation, 20/20 hindsight, snap judgements, hot takes. Without that there is no board.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Doc is in the Mark Jackson zone of "Not the least bit interested, and will actively stop watching the team" coaches.

The fans absolutely do not play a role in the selection of a coach, but making a bad hire will definitely have repercussions amongst the fan base - and teams do have to account for that.

It would be funny if the Sixers and Bucks just swap head coaches.

Promote internally while making a cheaper hire. Can't tell me that Lee wouldn't demand less money than the Nurses or Montys of the coaching search. I hadn't thought about it like this, but you're on to something with the Horst process comparison.

Best option; Brad Stevens, give him whatever he wants
Second; Rick Carlisle, give him whatever he wants
Third; can we get Quin Snyder from ATL? Wouldn't be the first time
Fourth; **** it, give me Charles Barkley and a vet coaching staff and let's see what happens

I don't know that any of those are realistic but why not think big.

I truly like your best option.

The second and third options are also a lot better than the people the Bucks seem to be considering now.

In the past few years, every time Spo ever missed a start as HC, it’s been Quinn that gets the nod to fill in. He always had glowing endorsements from the players as acting head coach. Udonis Haslam said “when you hear Quinn, you hear Spo”. And Quinn has also said “I’m not re-writing the book, we have a culture in place” when he fills in meaning he’s soaked up everything under Spo that he models himself after him completely. Plus Quinn started in Miami during the “hard years” right after Lebron left so all those misfit Miami teams that have overachieved over the years, Quinn has been part of. And as of recently (the last few years) he’s been a major part of.

He’s 100% ready to captain his own ship. Give him Giannis and a crew that’ll buy into his philosophy and adopt his culture he’ll bring and we’ll have a winner, im confident in that. And I’m much more confident in that than I am any of these other candidates..

If Lee is the guy for Horst and the owners, you couldn't hire him while the door is still swinging from Bud leaving. But with a time interval commensurate with a thorough search, you can say you looked at all available candidates and made a reasoned decision to take the guy with the office down the hall.

Which I think is the right answer anyway. Lee will be a head coach next year somewhere. Maybe because of his HC inexperience he's more suited to a young team like Detroit, but if he's well-liked by Mr. Loyalty-in-my-DNA and the others he's worked with, it seems like the job is his.

all well said. hes my top choice by a mile and i think any outsider is a mistake.

i also think its outrageous to suggest we fired arguably the top coach in the league and didnt know EXACTLY what the plan was next. this whole interview process seems like a charade to me

Of the names mentioned so far, I'd rank them as follows:

I'm happy with: Nurse, Carlisle, Quinn, Atkinson

Meh: Lee, Borrego, Griffin

Thanks but no thanks: Monty

**** no: Jackson, Brooks, Rivers.

Agreed. Especially after the video where Rasheed Wallace calls out Doc for being a terrible coach.

I'd love to hear Charles Lee's answer to

"What adjustments would you have made against Miami"
"What type of offensive and defensive gameplan would you employ with the current personnel?"
"Would that game plan change based on personnel?"
"Do Charles Lee have it all?"

How about, "Where were you when Bud was self-destructing/not adjusting/not using timeouts?"
