I have a lot of research to do, but can a knowledgeable college basketball fan explain WTF happened to Miller in the tournament?

I was planning on doing my draft research by watching the tourney and as a result I'm going to need to get talked into Miller, because he was **** awful.

It would be such a Charlotte move to draft the smallest QB in history and then go get the smallest SG in the league

Also, I'm super over all the "so glad the heroes of the Earth, San Antonio won the lottery, he's deserves such an amazing organisation" takes.

As if they've ever done much without winning the lottery with Robinson and Duncan and everyone else riding on the coattails bar Kawhi, who obviously hated the place.

Funny how average they've been without being gifted a generational talent in the last few years for once.

Really hate to see Victor ending in SA considering the way they tanked and the luck they had in the past but at least Charlotte has the possibility to pick a highly desired pg.
Anyway congrats Charlotte fans.

Terry is 6’1” and 190. Scoot is a teenager and 6’2” 193. I’m not worried about his size. Go watch his highlights and you’ll see how crazy athletic this dude is and the fire he plays with. Outside shot needs work. LaMelo was looking like a 20% shooter coming into the league. It’s not like his jumper is broken, he just needs refinement and practice like any prospect.

Terry being 6'1 is half his problem. I've seen a lot of Scoots games. I wouldn't be mad if we picked him but I think Miller will be better.

Can Scoot defend bigger guards? Or anyone? I honestly don't know, so I'm just wondering.

Terry being undersized would be less of a problem if it didn't mean both he and Melo get cooked on the defensive end.

To me Scoot is a much safer pick than Miller. Has better intangibles and maturity.

Now that the euphoria is settling in I remembered we have 4 others picks in this draft. Mitch and the scouting department need to work like dogs over the next month.

I feel Brandon Miller is more likely to be Jarret Cutler than Jason Tatum

Terry has a 6-8 wingspan, Scoot is rumored to be 6-9 wingspan. They really aren't much different size wise.

I think both of Miller and Scoot have the pluses and minuses.

Scoot could be a fun pick in the short term, but watching these playoffs do you think having your best two players as guards is a winning formula? Especially two poor defensive players, feels like teams will just hunt us to death in the future.

I was really hoping for Julian Phillips, but I think that ship sailed after the combine.

With 4 other picks in a draft with a strong 2nd round Mitch has the assets to trade up in the 1st. We can't bring in 5 guys, so hard to believe that isn't the plan.

I had Phillips top 20 before the combine and I don't know that he'll be able to move up enough from 27th with a bunch of 2nds. I don't think there is another GM that would basically do a similar trade to what the Hornets did last year, just in reverse with Charlotte moving up 10+ spots for some mind 2nds.

If we're talking about last year under a different CBA I'd agree. But the new CBA comes down hard on luxury tax teams. The Warriors and Heat will both pick up the phone when Mitch comes calling. The Warriors especially will want to draft some proven players with more college experience on cheaper 2nd round contracts.

The comp on Brandon Miller is Paul George.

I'll say Mikal Bridges. And that would be amazing.

Of course if we pick Miller then Scoot will become Derrick Rose. I'm fine with either. Prefer Miller.

If you are going to make a comment like this at least explain why you feel that is the case.

Brandon Miller is Paul George. Scoot is westbrook or Rose. MKG was Scottie Pippen.

We don't know what the hell were talking about. No one knows what these kids will be. I'm down for the debates though.

Miller is probably the best fit, offensively, but I don't know how he gets PT if they want to bring Miles andn PJ back.

Scoot probably the best talent, but I'm dubious of his fit next to Melo, especially defensively. He's also going to have to wait for Terry to move on.

Thompson Twins are the prototypical pairing next to Melo. If either one can figure out how to shoot then they have the easiest path to stardom.

I'm nervous that if we pass on Amen, he turns into the next wing star while Miller/Scoot bust out

The biggest ? when it comes to us drafting Scoot is will we draft him when we already have Terry? Cliff/Mitch/MJ view this as a playoff team. I still wouldn't totally rule out trading the pick.
