Charlotte takes Scoot, he and LaMelo are actually a good fit, and if not trade Melo

I feel like I'm a bit crazy for also thinking they're good complementary pieces next to each other. LaMelo has the size to play two, has the range to complement Scoot's -current- non-shooting ways, and he's such a creative and willing passer and I feel LaMelo can play off the ball in the right system because of his shooting.

exactly, no reason why they can't be Charlotte's back court moving forward, Melo can space while Scoot attacks, and you already have your secondary playmaker on the roster in Melo after Scoot.

you don't overthink it, take Scoot and run. IF it doesn't work out at least you have the asset and work out a trade.

I don't even think it's debatable. Scoot has the highest upside. Melo is already injury prone and you been running a two PG lineup since Melo been in the league. The same Rozier that's available for trade this off-season. Yeah, easy. Draft Henderson. The draft starts at 4.

Whitmore at 3 is insane. What does Hollinger see in him?

3. Cam Whitmore, 18, 6-6 Fr. SF, Villanova

I wasn’t initially impressed with Whitmore, who missed the first few weeks of the season and came back in early December. He’s powerful and athletic but heavily dependent on two-foot takeoffs around the basket and has a severe case of dribble blindness. Whitmore averaged a whopping 13 field goal attempts per assist this past season; among legitimate prospects, only the visibly unready GG Jackson was worse.

So what’s he doing this high on my board? A wing with this level of athleticism and scoring ability just can’t be any lower; it’s the most valuable commodity in the game. Whitmore has a pretty ready translation as a “points-and-D” guy who scores at a high level and can also guard elite scorers himself; the question is whether the feel will ever come along for the ride, or if he’s just going to get an ugly 20 every night with Heisman Trophy drives into three people.

Even with the two-foot takeoffs, Whitmore is a load when he goes to the rim: powerful, athletic and nimble. He has a good handle for size and a quick burst when he wants to take off, so he gets into the lane easily. Whitmore scored 26.4 points per 100 possessions in Big East play and shot 55.5 percent on 2s, while still leaving easy money on the table in terms of foul drawing that likely will come soon enough. He’s also a solid 3-point shooter; his windup is a little slow right now, but he has deep range. The next step is to get to a pull-up; once Whitmore starts dribbling, he’s going to the cup (probably to his left).

The underrated part here is the defense. Whitmore has active hands that yielded one of the highest steal rates of any prospect, moves his feet in individual defense and gets way up off the floor contesting shots. Combine that with his July 2004 birthdate, and there is still a lot of time for things to turn further in his favor. And for him to figure out what those other four players on the floor do on offense.

While he doesn't play like Rondo, I like Hollinger 6'7 Rondo comp even if he doesn't play like him. I do believe his finishing is much better but two foot jumpers sometimes have issues finishing in traffic and I don't wonder how that's going to work.

way too high on B Miller but other than that's actually a solid list, and love the Trey Alexander shoutout, who continues to be criminally underrated.

list is missing Keyonte George tho big time.

If Lively goes to the right team that lets him play to his strengths and doesn't expect much offense from him he's going to be a really good player. It's kinda weird how overlooked he is.

Let's say the draft plays out like

1. Wemby
2. Scoot
3. Miller
4. Amen
5.

What's your plan as the Detroit GM?

Lively at 8 seems crazy high to me… maybe I need to watch more.

What Hollinger is on the Anthony Black train. Not sure how I feel about this. It's cool to be off-meta about this.

When Kevin O'Conner tweets about in a week, it's all over for Black.

Pistons beat writer reporting it will likely be between Black/Cam/Jarace/Amen

seeing as Amen will likely be gone, its probably one of Black/Cam/Jarace. I would take Black from that group

NBA Teams are too afraid to make big changes.. but Ball should be offered to Golden State for Poole, Kuminga and a pick or Minn for KAT and then draft Scoot. As good as Wemby may be.. Scoot will be as good imo and faster

this is such a deep draft, there are a bunch of guys in the 15-25 range that you can make legitimate late lotto arguments for.

the key in this class tho is that 4-10 range, a lot of viable players in this range with a lot of different good/bad outcomes

Christ. I think there is a very good chance the Hornets trade Ball to make room for Scoot. I think there is a good chance Portland either trades the pick or Dame. This draft might go haywire after Wemby gets picked.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...
