Scoot probably the best talent, but I'm dubious of his fit next to Melo, especially defensively. He's also going to have to wait for Terry to move on.

Thompson Twins are the prototypical pairing next to Melo. If either one can figure out how to shoot then they have the easiest path to stardom.

I'm nervous that if we pass on Amen, he turns into the next wing star while Miller/Scoot bust out

Spot on.

This is not a bad idea really. If Miller checks in the workouts as a 2/3 and had reason (hammy?) for slumping maybe he is the pick but getting the 4th pick and next year another first rounder from Houston and I could be convinced. Unless Scoot wows them....idk

If you are going to make a comment like this at least explain why you feel that is the case.

Don't take it too seriously , this was just based on my initial research on him. Tbh his low dip shot scares me against NBA defense. Also his late season performance scares me even more, and lastly the off court stuff to pile on along with our already young headcases does not make me feel better.

I truly encourage everyone to do a deep dive on these prospects.
There seems to be a consensus that Scoot is the clear cut guy, but reporting by Windy, Givony, Woj and Veccine would tell you NBA executives are far from decided.

I think Scoot could slide as far down as 5. He is definitely not the consensus at 2 at all. And when the Thompson twins prove to be as or more athletic than him but taller in pre-draft workouts that will be a problem.

I find it so frustrating that Scoot was the consensus no 2 just until we get the no 2 pick.... look as long as we don't mess this draft up as bad as 2012, I'm haply

He hasn't been the consensus number 2 pick for a while. Especially after Miller dropped 41 a day after his gun incident.

Scoot is a lot like Dennis I think.

Which is both a good and bad thing.

Looking at the prospects in our range make me feel pretty grateful for the 2 pick. We got some crazy high potential options. Typically we tend to go with the safe and boring option. This year that seems to be Brandon Miller. Not my favorite prospect so far, but for a boring pick he is pretty exciting

yea from what little I know Miller seems like another potential chemistry issue, his choking in the tourney didn't inspire confidence either.

Scoot could be a fun pick in the short term, but watching these playoffs do you think having your best two players as guards is a winning formula? Especially two poor defensive players, feels like teams will just hunt us to death in the future.

Consistent playoffs and some second round appearances would be fun at this point

Scoot didn't exactly lead a great g league team either to be fair.

level of competition is a bit higher and I love the way he competed in that exhibition against the Metros

Lol we've been drafting like we are a perennial conference finalist for almost 20 years now.

Mitch was obviously expecting to draft 8th and draft a white dude from the big ten named Medi Ocre. Only half kidding.

Absolutely insane, but not even surprising. Clifford said they were a top 4 seed if healthy. The team is being run by nutjobs.
