I just can't see a team that ancient winning ****, like its not even just our core but literally almost every role player as well and the only plus athlete is Giannis & his **** up knee. Gotta know when to fold 'em, blowing our wad every year isn't working and is going to make building another core around Giannis impossible.

Anyone know the context to this?
FVV being close with Aj could legitimately be a thing.
Certainly an interesting time for Fred to be championing someone going to UW especially after a deadline where he reportedly almost became a Buck.
Storr and FVV are both from Rockford.

Yeah, I feel like I must be taking crazy pills.
How is he still clearly being talked about as the #2 or #3 pick when he was accessory to murder. I mean Ja is getting a second suspension for holding a gun on social media, and yet this draft propspect has a much more serious controversy around him where someone’s life was lost, and yet

Ron Swanson wrote:Yeah I really only have interest in Van Vleet if you're bringing him in to move Jrue to SG, not as his replacement. We've probably fielded one of the worst playoff backcourts of any contending team the last several years (Jrue/Donte/Teague/Grayson/Hill/Carter) and the quickest/best way to upgrade the roster is to fix that.
I think most of the proposed scenarios with FVV would slot him in as your offensive 4/5 option, regardless of whether you hang onto Jrue or not.
Bring in FVV, and then trade Jrue for a guard that could theoretically work in actions with Giannis that would be more mutually beneficial.
Simons would slot in ahead of FVV offensively, and we’d likely get back more assets to boost some of our depth.
Grayson + one of those assets for quickley and toppin.
FVV, Simons, Quickley would be a nice guard rotation, for instance.

OK as much as I wish we could have any control on what Khris and Brook will do ... we have zero control... so our only valuable tradeable asset is Jrue...
Post 3 ideas of Jrue trades... thank you.
I still think Khris is actually playing out of position last 2-3 years. His current position should be SG. Most superstars are either PG or Forwards, so slotting Khris at SG is like hiding him on D. His size can cover a bit how slow he is. Resigning Khris a 3/100M with 3rd year team option could be a contract we can survive or trade.
So Jrue for a PG or even a SF is the way to move on for my eyes.
Andrew Wiggings + Kuminga
Michael Porter Jr
Demar Derozan + Caruso
In that order, these are ideal trades for us and pairing Giannis with a young Semi - Superstar.
Let Brook walk or give him the minimum and play him as 6th man.

Yes, no more trading picks unless you have a real superstar or young up-and-comer involved in the trade.
No trading picks for coaches....no trading picks for role players.

So i see your reasoning but its not like a Middleton opt in or sign and trade is some impossibility. Yeah i agree Middleton has been playing out of position. But he definitely isn't a 2 he is a undersized 4.
Also your trade options are semi intriguing at least MPJ one. But if you trade Jrue who the hell is our PG with the options you laid out. The Bulls one is especially gross imo. Demar DeRozan old bad defensive playoff choke artist. Caruso who is coming off a injury and best skill being perimeter defense. The Wiggins isn't much better as he is a catch shoot guy with one year playing well on defense. Kuminga is a interesting player but I don't see the breakout anytime soon.
Bucks fandom bringing me happiness still seems like a dream.

I just don't think it's easy to bring a better ball handler in. Lillard will cost a leg and an arm (if Portland are at all willing to sell), has a gigantic contract that will sour quickly and also struggles in the availability department. CP3 is fading quickly, his availability is even more questionable and matching him would require us to give up a significant piece even if his trade value is low. FVV is one then one of the next best options, but he's out of contract (PO). Maybe you can convince him/Toronto to opt-in, trade and extend?
There's multiple options to me. Maybe the new coach figures a way to play better through Giannis. I still feel like we're not utilizing him well enough. Maybe we find a lesser player who can't break down a defense but is actually a good ball handler a la Tyus Jones, Marcus Smart, etc. Or maybe we roll on someone with the theoretical ability to create for himself and others, but who has not shown the consistency. That's maybe Poole (who put up big stats in Curry's absence as the primary handler). Or Sexton (although I'm really low on small PGs).
The issue with someone like Tyus Jones is that he’s not really enough of a scoring threat to really want him handling the ball a ton. Tyus replacing Jrue would just mean more Giannis and Khris ball handling IMO.
Likewise with Smart. Sexton is enough of a scoring threat but probably not the playmaker you want. There’s a world in which Poole could be but he’s probably as likely if not more likely than Jrue to turn it over and he’s obviously in a different stratosphere defensively.
If we’re trying to get better next season (rather than taking a step back while getting younger), I think the key is adding a ball handler like Tyus Jones while keeping Jrue, Khris, and Giannis. That would allow each of them to pick their spots more and have someone like Jones on the floor with them that they’d trust to make smart decisions.

Tyus would be a Conley-style game manager for us. He would be worth getting just for his post-entry passing. He just quickly gets the ball where it needs to go. Obviously he's not a great player, but we'd be a lot better off starting him than Grayson, who I think is solid, but we need much less than a poised ball handler who can get us organized when the chips are down.
He had a really bad series shooting the ball against the Lakers, and I could see them being open to moving him.
Someone earlier mentioned that Portis has far more value than Tyus…I think that’s the trade for me personally. I’d do it straight up but if that poster is correct and we could get significant value in addition to Tyus, even better.
I just don’t think it makes much sense to trade Jrue or Middleton with Tyus as the main ball handler coming back.
Edit: no idea if their contracts are close enough to work this way but if they did, I’d love to.

I don't think we will ever know the truth one way or the other and going to go with the innocent until proven guilty. If I remember correct, he was a DD picking up people, was on the way to pick them up prior to getting a text about a gun, he never touched the gun and he wasn't never actively involved in the altercation. It almost seems more likely he had no idea what his drunk friend was involved in and was just trying to pick up his buddies but they grabbed the gun from the back seat instead of leaving. The initial facts seem bad and made it seem like he drove over there to only hand over the gun but further evidence makes it seem like that's not true. There's not really any evidence he knew he had the gun. There's a text saying bring me my piece but is there anything that points to him knowing the gun was in the car?
And this isn't a Ja thing where it's like why are you even hanging out with people that could get you in trouble, this was just a teammate who you normally would want him to hang out with. Idk I have a hard time ruining a guys life because someone else did something horrible and we have no evidence that he was actively involved. Correct me if I'm missing anything. Just a **** situation.

My sticking point was his car allegedly being used to block the escape of the victim. Reading more recent articles now, it seems that may not have been the case, which would change things in my mind. Obviously there are still serious questions. It's plausible he didn't know what the gun was going to be used for, but at best it does call his judgement into serious question.

My understanding is they have more money than they’d ever need already. Jrue’s wife had a health scare a few years ago and he’s accomplished everything he wanted to in his career. But just my interpretation.

I could see him signing a big 1 year deal, if you guys win one in 24/25 and he wants to have a chance at repeating. Then he could retire at 36.

Yeah, Bridges is the only one I could see that type of package for. Unless they are looking at Toronto's Siakam or Anonouby? I wouldn't do that deal for them though.

I think the argument is there. Easy math…take the top 40 (assuming some SF2 are better than some SF1) and what? Top 4 (10%) are the cream? Then consider who’s NOT going to be available…Kawai,LBJ,Butler,Tatum,KD…Ingram?…George? pretty sure this is where Midds starts getting talked about. Anyone think those top 5 are going anywhere?
