Okay, here’s my crazy prob non realistic idea………..
1)Smart/Timelord/future pick for Ayton(Suns need a pg badly and could use the defense)
2) G Williams sign and trade for Nance
3)PP and seconds to move up in early twenties to grab K Murray
4) Mid level on J Richardson

White/Brogdan
JB/Richardson
Tatum/Hauser
Al/Gallo/Murray
Ayton/Nance

Brown, pick, and Horford for Mitchell and Allen

Brown can walk next summer, and any trade not only assumes that but assumes he probably turns down a super max for the ability to do so. The only way Boston has any leverage in a Brown trade is if he resigns, then they would have to wait a year to move him anyways. Outside maybe Atlanta, where he has a good chance to resign, I dont see why any team would offer up a great package for him.

Closer to 4. It was Kyrie’s team in 2019. They were way too young in 2018. 2020 is my starting point of the Smart + Jays trio really being the core of the team despite Kemba being there and Smart still coming off bench.

I'm not looking for a great package. I just want Brown gone. He's a very talented uber athlete who isn't very good at team basketball. He'd be a perfect tank commander on a bad team; he's probably lead the league in scoring (and in turnovers).

Our players want to play two bigs. Horford and Rob are both somewhat unreliable over the regular season. Capela gives us an option to play two bigs as much as we want.

TOR gets: G Derrick White, 25/27/29 1st rounders

BOS gets: F OG Anunoby

Honestly, I feel like we’re overpaying here in terms of picks, but TOR is stubborn and OG is such a perfect fit here.

Only if Wyc isn't afraid of the 2nd apron. The second apron kicks in $17.5 M above the luxury tax line, so if the Celtics offer Brown the max they will be way over the 2nd apron, given the projected 162M luxury tax line for 2023-24.

If a team goes over the 2nd apron:

1. It loses the mid-level exception.
2. Can't use cash in trades
3. Can't take more salary in a trade than it sends out.
4. Can't aggregate salary in trades.
5. Cannot trade its first-round pick seven years in the future (ie. its 2030 pick in 2023/24)
6. Cannot sign players on the buyout market.
7. If over the 2nd apron two year out of four, that future frozen draft pick gets moved to the end of the first round, regardless of the team's record.

If we had a championship team, it might be worth the risk. But it looks like this team as presently constructed can't even win the EC, so maybe Brad ought to be given the opportunity to put together a team that can.

I understand all that. But we get a better return if JB is already signed long-term than an expiring. When does the 2nd tax apron provision kick in? Next season already? If not, Cs can still trade JB offseason 2024.

What if the Celtics offered Toronto the following package

Smart, PP, S&T Grant Williams, 2 future firsts

FVV (S&T) and OG

Making a lineup of

RW3
Tatum
Brown
OG
FVV

Thats a pretty legit lineup. Doubt Toronto does it but never hurts to try.
