My favorite fake trade, however, kills two birds with one stone by resolving the Magic’s backcourt issue. Orlando holds pick Nos. 6 and 11 and would likely be tempted to trade up and take Henderson if the Hornets select Miller at No. 2. Could some combination of the sixth and 11th picks and another asset allow the Magic to move up to No. 3?

This is the way (depending on what that other asset is).

Shouldn’t be much in my opinion. 6+11 is good value. But I’d be willing to package anything beside Franz/Paolo/and Suggs for Scoot

I'd probably do it.
Then you could flip Fultz for something (or cut him loose) and sign a center in free agency.

The backcourt issues are lack of a floor general, ball security, and three point shooting. Scoot solves two of three, and his shot is far from broken.Audi wrote:eyriq wrote:https://theathletic.com/4535111/2023/05/19/nba-draft-rumors-notes-hollinger?source=user-shared-articleMy favorite fake trade, however, kills two birds with one stone by resolving the Magic’s backcourt issue. I don’t get it. If the team’s “backcourt issue” is 3pt shooting, how is Scoot the answer?

Simple…
Draft Hendricks at #6, Lively at #11
Waive Harris, Bol, Goga to clear cap space
Sign FVV
Trade Fultz & ORL 24 frp (top 3), DEN 25 frp to SAS FOR Vassell & McBuckets (they need a PG and I’m told Fultz is good)
FVV/Cole
Vassell/Suggs/Houstan
Franz/Hendricks/McDermott
Paolo/Isaac/ M. Wagner
WCJ/Lively
Much improved defense (insane if Isaac healthy), shooting from deep, PnR play…lots of positional versatility & looks

Hendricks isn’t a 3. He is pretty much a 4 only.

AJ Griffin AND Lively…I’m a high volume 3pt shooting, physical defending, rim protecting, addressing our glaring weaknesses fan.
Everyone at 6 is a bit of a crapshoot, imo.
I guess I look like a Duke fan too…Paolo & Griffin had great chemistry last season, gravity down low and kicking out for open makes.
