Actually there are 3 7-1 guys that may enter the 2024 draft

Bradshaw who is committed to Kentucky is an interesting case for Lebron's group with his son going
to USC, is trying to use NLI money to entice him to flip to USC.

Krivas who just committed to Arizona is 7-1 225 lbs is a Lithuanian

Mara who looks to verbally committed to UCLA is 7-3 Spaniard, might end up being the first pick in
the 2024 draft.

None of these guys are on the level of Victor but the scarcity of US born bigs is more than made up by
the increasing number of European bigs. Giannis and Jokic seem to be good role models for these
Euro bigs.

As far as the hypothetical, I'm not convinced Portland is that far from being competitive as soon as
2024 if they go young. The young Blazers will soon have an elite back court if they pick Scoot and nobody
says Simons can't play. Simons in a sixth man role he would score a ton of points as the sniper on the
wing.

Meanwhile Dame in a senior role, would be a great mentor to Sharpe/Scoot, who will have growing
pains. Portland if they sign Grant, will have $120 million in committed salaries to 4 players and
likely would welcome a Simons trade that brings in a front court player

They could roll with Dame, Scoot and Sharpe in their back court with Grant, player XX and Nurkic
at the start of the season. They don't have to trade Dame this summer unless he asks out, for he's
signed for the next 4 seasons at over $200 million

Asked the Phoenix board and they say he’s decently solid with his sources… but who knows.

FWIW, historically, the trade board people don’t trust Flex, saying he writes what the Suns tell him to try to apply leverage, in exchange for better team access. I like the Suns, but many of their posters seem to drink a lot of local Koolade to stay hydrated.

Would you rather trade the #3 pick and Ant + Nas + another 1st for Ayton and make it to the playoffs to be eliminated in the 1st round next season and the 2nd round the following?

OR

Trade Lillard to a team and grab several 1st round picks, expiring deals, and a promising young player which will result in you not making the playoffs for the next 2-3 seasons but will be a Western Conference Title Contender in 2027 or 2028?

Thats a massive overpay for Ayton & would set the team back several years. Given that, Id take door #2

Best offer for Ayton would be Nurk and Simons.

Miller could actually play with Dame. I would like to draft Miller in that case, and trade Simmons for Ayton, or some similar type of deal and roll with that, personally.

Dame
Sharpe
Miller
Grant
Ayton

I personally have Miller rated higher than Scoot. I think he's going to be the better pro

One thing to consider with Charlotte is with Miles Bridges in limbo, would they want to take on Miller with his off the court stuff? If no, would they take Scoot or pivot to Amen Thompson, who might be the best athlete in the draft?

What FRP (range) would you want for Simmons?

Lottery pick+ cap space?

What about #11 + Garry Harris (contract can be fully unguaranteed)

#11 + cap space is fair (no need for Harris).
Portland would ideally utilize that cap space to help facilitate a trade with another team that is near/over the tax line.

IE-> Brooklyn (Bridges), or Atlanta (J Collins)

I think millers their guy fit wise, the off court drama I don’t see having any problems at this point. Which begs the question, can scoot fit here and imo if and when we trade ant for some better fit - then I think scoot and his ball handling does just fine here. Either way, I see Brandon miller being charlottes guy myself.

I fully expect Portland to take Scoot at 3 if he'a there. He's likely going to be an impact rookie
and if paired with Simons at the start, might be really effective.

If they trade 3, it will be for a younger player on a solid contract. I doubt they would trade 3
for guy in the last year of his deal for that would involve taking on a lot of money in a future
extension with the second tax apron looming. This of course changes if Emblid/Giannis
somehow become available for they would really make a difference in a win now scenario.

Towns for the #3 rumor: no thanks. I'd rather just start the rebuild than make a move like that. It would just make our abysmal defense worse than it already is. I"m sure we'd be good enough to make the playoffs with KAT but not get very far. It would be a Dame appeasement move.

Either works for me. Harris would be a solid backup.

Ayton might be one of the worst trade targets the Blazers could go after. He is only a marginal improvement over Nurkic and has plenty of issues with his game.

This performance by Brown is why I'm not keen on trading #3 + Shaedon for him.

You would need to add salary and the Blazers really only have 2 contracts to offer up... Simons & Nurkic. I would not do #3, Simon's, and Sharpe for Brown and his expiring contract. I would think the Celtics could do better than that.

Yeah I wouldnt do it either just saying it's better than 3 for ayton more or less. The first pg in a draft has a huge success rate I think we'd be wise to draft Scoot if he should be there

Might actually be reasonable for a mini rebuild if we draft Scoot given browns age but some incentive should be added from Boston like firsts
