2. Which one of those players do you feel are able to start? Because each one that you mentioned has a fairly major flaw, which is why they have been backups.
3. Saddiq is wanting Hunter type money, so are you okay with giving him that when he is a net-negative defender?
The Murray-Trae experiment isn't working. We need to cut our losses while he still has enough value to get us back a better piece.
We gave up 3 first round picks and a pick swap for D Murray. I'm willing to give it more than 1 season...especially since we just got a new coaching staff and offensive guru aboard.
If it doesn't work, we can always sign & trade, but I won't sell low on a talented player after one sub-par season. (Though expiring Dejounte and #15 for expiring Siakam could be appealing to TOR.)
I've lost hope in DeAndre Hunter. 4 seasons, and it appears like he's regressed.
No one is giving Saddiq $20 million per year. But with Hunter off the books, we'll have the flexibility to match a more reasonable offer in RFA next summer.
In this hypothetical, I'd probably start Reggie Bullock at SF for defense with the goal of moving Griffin into a starting role at some point in the season. I'd also be open to
starting a rookie at SF if the right one falls in the draft.
