All these great teams fired their coaches and the Chicago Bulls gave theirs a stealth extension.

Maybe as a backup to Nurse if he decides to go Phoenix/Philly…. Possibility Boston if Nurse puts it all on hold to wait and see if we call him too…
I hope NN go to Phoenix , we don’t want to face his team 4 x lol
Ya his whining will actual earn calls on an American team

As a Nets fan, I don’t have anything against KD but the Suns hiring Doc would still be some funny ****

The Suns hiring Rivers would be a very Ishbia thing for them to do.

Except Phoenix is a team that struggles to draw fouls regardless.
It's very important that Nurse goes to a team that actually draws fouls so that his whining has a chance to be effective!

Re: NBA Coaching Carousel
Someone needs to write a comprehensive breakdown on how Doc earned his strange reverence from the media and the teams that continue to hire him.
- I started paying attention to the NBA the year after he retired so I don't know much about how he was regarded as a player. I do remember (as a dumb teen) thinking very highly of Doc's coaching when he won coach of the year in 2000. I was really into that Orlando team. My favorite player was Ben Wallace and that team helped define my tastes for plucky groups that won with defense.
- After that though, Doc just sort of presided over really mediocre EC borderline playoff teams. Roster with big stars (Tmac and Pierce) but really poor rosters around them. I wasn't smart enough about basketball to be assessing coaching in this period.
- He happens to still be in Boston when the team pulls off one of the greatest offseasons in NBA history, nabbing Ray Allen and KG while they were still close to their primes. That team immediately won a championship.
- A couple of things about that team though. They won with good talent, good fit, and an innovative overload defense designed by Thibs. Doc starts getting a lot of credit for "managing the egos" but we're talking about a group of veterans hungry for their first championship. Ray Allen and KG were famously amongst the most hard-working and professional players in the league. Was it that impressive to get them focused?
- KG's injury the next year changes the timeline of this team. They make another finals but don't have overwhelming talent anymore. They rely more and more on that defense and their offense becomes more and more of a sloggy joke. In 2012 they fall to 27th on offense. I never understood what Boston wanted to accomplish offensively in those years.
- When they trade the old guys to Brooklyn, Doc jumps ship to a pre-made contender in LA. Doc improves their win total by 1! It's not like we can measure Doc's coaching greatness.
- He once again keeps getting called a manager of egos, but that Clippers team slowly eroded into infighting more and more every year. I think Doc was a worse GM than a coach during this era, but I don't see why you'd point at Lob City as evidence of Doc's coaching greatness. Untimely injuries rob this team of some of their best playoff chances.
- The playoff choke jobs become a thing in LA, and people remember his Tmac Magic blowing a 3-1 lead and make it a thing as the Clippers take a hugely embarassing loss to Houston in 2015 and to Denver in the bubble.
- Then we get the Phili era. Humiliating loss to a Hawks team that had little business being there. A fairly embarassing first round win against the Raptors where Doc got undressed by his coaching opponent and lots of people were publicly wondering if Doc was going to be THE guy to blow a 3-0 lead. They were unceremoniously dispatched by Miami right after. Watching Doc go head to head with Nurse and Spo was not a cute look for him. Then this year they lay an egg in game 7 after an uneven but occasionally impressive playoff performance.

When the finals is the 2nd round(of interviews), he makes finals.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

Think Stan Van Gundy is pretty insightful announcer & takes it serious. Sometimes it seems like JVG & Jackson take outlandish point of views just cause they can. They've regressed alot in past couple years. Ryan Ruocco will call out the officials if they miss a call while JVG & Jackson like to hear themselves talk, smh

I think that Griffin is gonna get the Milwaukee job because Giannis wants him. There's like a butting of the heads in Milwaukee, from what I'm being told, because youve got the owner, you've got the GM, youve got Giannis. They wanna keep Giannis and they wanna keep Giannis happy. Adrian Griffin is his choice. That's who he wants.

Monty Williams Declined Opportunity To Coach Pistons
MAY 24, 2023 3:18 PM
The Detroit Pistons had initially planned to pursue Monty Williams as head coach had they won the lottery with the opportunity to select Victor Wembanyama, and sources tell Marc Stein that they followed through with that plan even though they dropped to No. 5.
Detroit's plan was not successful as Williams has reportedly turned down the opportunity.
Williams is owed over $20 million over the next three seasons with the Phoenix Suns, giving him the opportunity to be picky with his next coaching job.
The Pistons reportedly have narrowed their coaching search to Kevin Ollie, Jarron Collins and Charles Lee.

Lakers please. We lost by 1 or 2 possessions. Meanwhile Walker steps out or lets the ball go out of bounds. And coach chooses to rest Davis and Reeves with the season on the line. Ham stays positive which is good. He’s just not good with match ups. Frank would have played the correct 5 men.
Please fire Ham and hire someone else

Re: NBA Coaching Carousel
What I don’t understand is: Chris Paul has been coached by Doc. He should have the insight from the inside. Hearing stories about that old Clippers team from former players, I don’t think Suns really take him seriously. But I’m hoping for both parties they do. It’s inevitable for a 3-1 lead in the 2nd round.
