I like the idea of issuing perpetual securities as a way to circumvent the debt ceiling. There's precedence in history for doing this, and perpetual securities is not a particularly novel construct compared to the trillion dollar coin. This is such a silly nonsense drama that's being put on.

It’s much easier to just keep messing up the game board than playing by the the rules. It’s what’s dragging this country down.

I don't follow any of this closely any longer, but I will say it is fairly obvious that the revolving door of lawyers servicing Trump have always been competing with each other for access to Trump. The question of why any sane person would care to put themselves into the legal quagmire of handling a truculent client like him is perfectly reasonable, but it seems that anyone who is still prone to gambling on Trump's patronage giving them some kind of cachet says these attorneys all have some screws loose themselves. They are all ratting each other out and a number of them are now state's witness.

Smith seems to be very methodical and expedient in wearing down everyone in Trump's orbit into giving their testimony to his grand juries in both the documents and in the Jan. 6 investigations.

Imagine the drama of Meadows and Pence under oath. It's going to be a chit show.

DeSantis will go absolutely nowhere outside of Florida. It's the undeclared dark horse who enters the race you need to be worried about, someone smart enough to re-package the noxious stew the GOP has become into something palatable. Think of the Mencken character on Succession. He's a Nazi who is well spoken and he becomes the nominee. That's who you should be looking out for because the current crop of losers like DeSatan, Tim Scott, Nikki Haley, Pence, Ted Cancun Cruz are not going to make it. DeSantis is a stone cold idiot who cannot think on his feet. He'll freeze and crash in the debates, mark my words. He's a moron without the native born gall of a fukstik like Trump.

Hillary Clinton throws Joe Biden under the bus, according to a Fox News report (internet). Clinton is quoted as saying that "Biden's age in an issue" and that, "People have every right to consider it."

Dang.

Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, pushed back against Republicans’ insistence on spending cuts. ...

Republican negotiators had already rejected $3tn worth of deficit-reduction proposals, such as ending tax subsidies for large oil companies and closing the carried-interest loophole.

“It is not actually about debt or deficit, It is about keeping the cash flowing to the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations.”

Some people are just programmed to vote Republican

Like, I know dudes who are perfectly reasonable in any other context, but have been conditioned through years of propaganda to vote Republican no matter what

The real annoying ones are the people who pay no attention, yet smugly assert they know more than everyone and just give a vague "both sides bad"

Or the ones who are privileged enough to where politics is just a sport to them and vote based on whatever Elon-senpai tells them

But like, to quote Bo Burnham, how is the best case scenario Joe Biden?

Trump did something today that actually really really funny. He trolled DeSantis's Twitter presidential campaign announcement using AI and having a cast of characters like Hitler, Cheney, Soros, and other public feature and made a shyt show out of it. It's hysterical!

So while Republicans cry about the debt, they are looking to balloon the deficit another 3.5 TRILLION DOLLARS.

Had a very sick thought - so, of course, I rushed to share it here.
***************
Trump's Commercial for Primaries –

INT. TRUMP’S OFFICE

Top Secret files are spilled everywhere intermingled with used Diet Coke cans and crumpled McDonald’s wrappers and rancid French fries.

TRUMP sits at his desk, struggling to fill in a paint-by-numbers U.S. Flag with the correct crayons. He is in drag.

He flubs it, using Orange for Red, evaluates the Orange version of Old Glory, angrily crumples it and tosses it to the floor. Pauses, grabs a clean page and tries again.

DESANTIS enters

Trump looks up.

TRUMP
Is that chocolate pudding on your fingers Ron, or are you just glad to see me?

(Apologies to Mae West and the rest of the sentient world.) :noway: :nonono:
