Arike Ogunbowole is really fun to watch

Post#1 » by Lockdown504090 » Wed May 24, 2023 1:59 pm

This was from the other day. Ive been watching her since 2020, and what shes doing with the shot creation and ball handling is truly moving the womens game forward.

In general, this is what I like about the womens game right now. its not homogenized like the NBA is and all the good teams are playing VERY different styles. its not just 2 stars and a bunch of spot up shooters giving them space.

I don't think I've watched Wings game since that Liz Cambage comeback season. It would appear I've been missing out on the Arike show.

Liz actively hurt women’s basketball with her nonsense, she’s better off on Onlyfans. Arike is actually I really cool gal and a great leader. She is the one who had the clip go viral off her playing against men and she wouldn’t take the bait when people were trying to say that she could play in the nba.

And she was mentored by Kobe. The only thing not to like about her is her efficiency numbers hahaha

Yeah i love seeing Arike getting national attention, her ball handle and bag of moves is absolute filth. She embarrasses people out there, but I agree the one critique i have is that overall her efficiency needs to be better.

Not to veer off of Arike's greatness, but Liz is easily one of the biggest pieces of sh*t in pro sports. She shoulda got her ass kicked for calling Nigerian players racial slurs.

Lol ok I regret bringing her up!
Let's keep this thread on Arike. We only have a 2 threads so far on the new forum so I hate to see half of them(!) descend into a Cambage bashing.

I kind of like the Dallas Wings starting lineup. Satou, McCowan, and Natasha Howard make them pretty huge around Arike.

Sidenote, whenever I search "awards" on basketball reference's search tool, Awak Kuir's name always comes up. But it took me a while before I realized that was an WNBA player. She's also got size but doesn't project to play much.

Sorry about that  yeah i agree.

I like what i saw from Dallas' five, Howard is going to really hit the glass for them and fill the stat sheet.

She probably is, but I can't help hearing her name and getting 'Nam flashbacks of her beating my Huskies in back to back years in the semifinals. I was even at that game in 2019.

VJ Edgecombe/Malik Beasley
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela

I haven't watched her play yet so I'm fine with you calling me a boxscore basher, but in her five seasons she has shot 39,41,38,40 and 39% from the field. Is she like Allen Iverson, fun to watch but kind of a chucker?

Arike's efficiency is a fair criticism, she's definitely a volume scorer that does damage from down town when she gets hot. I wouldn't compare her to Iverson, she's a better three point shooter.

Fun to watch? Absolutely. You're going to at least see three plays off the dribble from her a night that will make you go

Dallas is not playing around. Arike, Sabally and Howard are a sick trio. Satou's numbers are just disgusting.

Kind of slept on Sabally a bit because of her injury last year. Through 4 games, she's looking like an All-WNBA player.

She's getting off that lefty 3-pointer so quick and so confident. Not fair for someone listed 6'4". She comes out ready to snipe and then when teams chase her off the 3-point line, she's so crafty and patient navigating the scrambling defense and getting to the rim or into her floater bag.

She has obviously put in some work coming back from that injury. It's nice to see her moving better but also that extended range is making her one of the toughest covers in the W right now.

Arike is quick and decisive with her counters. Thanks for sharing.
