I really feel like Wemby is a young Kareem

I never understand why we feel like we have to force comparisons. Sometimes there just isn't really one.

Admittedly part of my issue is related to the 14 dozen next Dirk's when every 7 foot Euro who ever made a 3 was labeled the next Dirk and well none of remotely came close. Heck right now there are multiple posters insisting Markkanen is Dirk 2.0.

Wemby isn't the next Kareem. And tsherkin is correct. His game is completely different as is his body and movements. We don't have to find the closest comparison. We can just let the kid be himself.

Go look at my post on page 1. Porzingis was 7'1.25 barefoot at the combine. Wemby is for sure taller than Zach Edey who just measured at 7'3.25 barefoot.

We literally have a picture of standing directly next to, and taller than a guy who was tape measured in front of every scout and draft website in the world and was 7'3.25. There is no reason to do this anecdotal bull that everyone loves with height and weight.

The same article says that a guy that measured 7'1.25 and a guy that measured 7'2.5 are both exactly 7'3 without shoes like Victor. Why do we do this?

Ignoring the difference in hair, Wemby and Edey look almost identical in height to me in that photo. Wemby looks to have a taller frame(which helps with standing reach), but a shorter skull length. The tops of their actual skulls seem very close. That said, Wemby was 17 in that photo? He very well could have grown since then. Even if he hasn't, Edey just measured 7'4" 1/2 to 7'4" 3/4 if going by shoe height(usually adds 1.25 to 1.5 inches), so 7'5" in shoe height for a 20 year old Wemby seems within the realm of possibility.

I think he to some degree will answer what a young Kareem could do in today's league. Not buying that he's 7-5 but probably about an inch and half taller than Kareem was.
