D'Angelo Russell Sought 4-Year, $100M Extension With Wolves

D'Angelo Russell was reportedly looking for a four-year extension worth around $100 million when he was with the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources told Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports.

Russell was acquired by the Lakers in February. He struggled in the playoffs and scored just 25 points total in the Lakers series against the Nuggets.

Despite the struggles, sources added that Russell was viewed as a positive presence around the team.

I think D'Angelo Russell is worth this money on a team where he'll play a specific role and in a system where he can be a contributor on defense. The Lakers don't seem like that situation, though. Truthfully, the Timberwolves got the most out of him on both sides of the court two seasons ago. I guess the hard part for him is going to be finding that ideal situation where he won't become a bad contract.
