2023 East Cross-Standings Draft - Sign-Ups

Draft Rules:

1. Every player drafted should be drafted with a season between the 1979-80 season and the 2022-23 season. You can draft players that came into the league before 1979 but the seasons you choose can't be before 1979-80.

2. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players, drafted in 4 rounds. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes in your rotations.

3. Each round you should draft a pair of players, two of them should be from matching franchises. You need to match two franchises finishing in "opposite" places in 2023 standings, i.e. first team with 15th team, second team with 14th team, 8th team with itself. Any predecessor franchises are also a valid pairing. For each pair, only one player can be one who ever won First Team NBA or Second Team NBA in the 80s to now timeframe.

Matching franchises are:
- Milwaukee Detroit
- Boston Charlotte
- Philly Orlando
- Cleveland Washington
- NYK Indy
- Brooklyn Chicago
- Atlanta Toronto
- Miami with itself

4. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 88.0 FGA with a minimum of 3.0 FGA per player corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player. NOTE: You may pick a player whose actual FGA number was lower than 3.0, but you will still be charged 3.0 for that player.

5. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the season selected. If a player played for multiple teams in one season, he must have played at least 50% of his games in that season for one of the listed franchises.

6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBA.

7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, or if the player you have chosen is ineligible, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to myself or another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.

8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.

9. Draft order will be completely randomized.

10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. Please note that the clock starts whenever the previous drafter has either made their pick or their two-hour window has expired, even if the next person is not quoted.

11. The winner of the draft will be determined by rankings, playoffs, or hybrid (depending on numbers).

Team Roster Page Rules:

You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:

. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 88.0 FGA

I think the restrictions might make it hard for everyone to compete with a tighter time-frame. Plus some players are more fond of older time-frames. If we get 11-12 players I think 80s should be OK, but less probably 90s is better.

No waiting list [anymore]. In our heyday we would fill up to 16 and a few people would be left out but those days are long gone.

Agreed!

I feel like including the two conferences might make the draft unnecessarily deeper even if we go something like 00s and on, and definitely 90s and on. If we like the concept after playing, we can follow with a West version. But willing to hear more opinions.
