I do think it's a little odd that so many were pining for Nurse but hiring his lead assistant is somehow an instant failure.

Ones a proven head coach the other isn’t. Is it that hard to understand? Lol

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Welcome to our board.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Woj - Bucks choose Griffin
I don’t think a Shams tweet means anything, the amount of water carrying over the last several weeks has been comical.
It’s very favorable and convenient framing for Nurse, but an equally valid one could be that there wasn’t as much support for him in the Bucks FO as he thought, Giannis preferred Griffin, and that’s why he removed himself.

Re: Woj - Bucks choose Griffin
Because why would we hand the reins of an MVP led 1st seed to a career assistant coach with zero head coach experience?? So he's going to make those final second timeout calls that Bud missed? How do we know that

In all honesty, none of us here know ****. Whatever, I think we’ll be fine and I’m going to let my optimistic nature take over and enjoy seeing a fresh face that seems to be well liked.

Griffin might be great but this is a giant swing in the dark.

I also think the negativity (not necessarily here, but generally) is a bit puzzling after how much support there was for even less experienced assistants like Chris Quinn.
I’ve seen enough first time HCs be immediately elite to not just trash this hiring. Nurse himself, Udoka, Kerr, etc.

Definitely not an instant failure. It's exponentially riskier to go with a guy that's never been a head coach before, though.
But with that also comes a potentially higher ceiling.
Seeing Udoka have success last year in Boston, Ham this postseason, maybe Horst decided this was the mold we needed and we turned Nurse down.

Giannis may not have liked Nurse but did like Griffin, similar quandry.

Can’t say I cared about Nurse that much. So I’m generally fine with this. I can understand why others are irrationally angry lol

Re: Woj - Bucks choose Griffin
This is just sad. Feels eerily similar to Horst hire where everybody couldn’t agree on a hire so they went with a random instead. Hoping for the best but with our aging roster we don’t really have time for a first time head coach to be learning on the job.
Also the idea of a players coach makes me a little nauseous. These guys already had minimal accountability with Bud now there will be even less.

Re: Woj - Bucks choose Griffin
How dumb... 1st we fire our best ever coach for losing to an 8th seed that might win it all --- pay the rest of those remaining salary years-- then hire a rookie coach .. what a dumpster fire

Griffin seems like a pretty obvious compromise(why our GM has a job and isn’t working at FedEx) or back up plan, no way this was the plan all along.

Doc Rivers is even more experienced. Did you want him?

Re: Woj - Bucks choose Griffin
id rather have someone trying to make a name for himself than someone thats already been chewed up and spat out.
i dont mind the swing for the fences. this team didnt play with enough fire even when winning last year. i liked it in 18/19 and 19/20 where we were throttling teams by 20 a game and sitting our starters for huge chunks in the fourth. i want to get back to that.
