I'm curious to see how Griffin puts together his staff. Hoping he has someone that can help with the offense.

Nobody's mentioned who wasn't invited to the Big Meeting yet.

I’ll be honest that Griffin wasn’t a top choice for me. I also don’t know what Nurse is like, and if the front office perceived he was a bad fit, you can’t hire a guy that might shove your superstar out the door.

Ill be optimistic re: Griffin until there is evidence that such is foolish.

Im looking for a silver lining, and I guess it is that if management hired Griffin on behalf of Giannis, that indicates they believe that GA is open towards extending. And as long as we have GA, another title is possible.

Can't believe town mayor Bobby Portis wasn't invited. Sources tell me Baddy Chuck was there however.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

FVV’s congrats tweet coming after the Bucks reportedly pursued him at the deadline is another variable here.

FVV has power to dictate where he goes if he opts-in.

Okay, now I see why Giannis would like a guy like Griffin.

And if hiring the war criminal/not well liked by his players guy in Nurse would've pushed Giannis away, then this is totally the right move in the circumstance

The real question is - how do we acquire him? We are lacking picks, we are lacking young players with upside. Trading Jrue for him in a S/T arguably doesn't make us any better if those are the two main pieces. It's just a challenge. I mean, if we can get him for Portis and some scraps, sure, but why does Toronto do that?

I just think if FVV does get signed for a S/T there will be a large number of bidders.

I hate the idea of a player picking the coach. Hate it.

Middleton being in on the meeting is making me nauseous.

Lue was the only guy I viewed as a cut above among the experienced HCs and even with him, some pretty crazy-if-true stuff in that Twitter thread. Of course, he never became a real option. I'm not super moved by the Nurse Won It argument considering 3 other unemployed guys can make the same case.

I don’t think he’s a good enough player to care

True, but I'd rather look like a jackass after we fail with Griffin than look like a jackass after we win with Griffin.

Jokes aside, I do want to make it clear that I love a lot about this hire.

+ Former player, which comes with a different kind of relatability and respect.
+ Longtime assistant, Nurse understudy without the prickliness.
+ Many credit him as a strong defensive mind.
+ Strong leader of men (PhD in Organizational Leadership). Strong bonds with his players. Dudes will run through a brick wall for him.
+ Not afraid to have tough conversations with his players.
+ Has raised some pretty stellar athletes.

? Offensive philosophy
? Game management
? Media management
? Staff
? Basically all first time HC stuff

Jimmy Butler credits Griffin for a lot of his development when he was an assistant in Chicago. Lobbied for him to get the Bulls job when Thibs got the boot. Marjon SZN is about to go CRAZY! 8-)

What are Nurse’s chances for the Suns job, now that it is known that he was eliminated from the choice set, and eliminated before the others?

Also, if Khris is being consulted on a coaching hire he's not going anywhere. Which is both good news and a little scary financially.

I do wonder why Masai wouldn't commit to Griffin before we could if he were this caliber a coach. Seems like a perfect fit for a team potentially about to undergo a rebuild of sorts, and the players already love him there. Maybe they just needed an outside voice as badly as we did?
