I don’t think that was intentional though. Guys like OG and Pascal were with the team before and Scottie was the best guy on the board at #4. So they just tried to make the best of what they had. With the Poeltl addition and how often they went with that Fred and Yak PnR I think they realized a little more structure is required.

Yes finally but it took a long time to fill that center hole. Meanwhile we kept adding redundant long guys like Boucher, Achiuwa, Birch, Thad, even a failed try like Bonga. One versatile 6'5 guy in the mix would have been nice.

Bonga was like our 15th man. I don’t think they expected him to make any all-star teams. Lol.

I agree they were a bit too rigid. As limited as they are, a guy like Poole or Maxey would’ve been nice off the bench. Although Maxey is 6’2.

Yaaa because the guy the Rockets want will be there at the 13th spot anyways so it's a win win loll.

You're reaching if you're going off the board there. I would only trade up for Scoot and Miller. If both are gone I wouldn't bother. The player crop from 4-13 is pretty much in the same tier imo. All decent but flawed prospects.

But who knows with this front office anymore.

If Houston is adding Jalen Green into the mix, I'd definitely be listening. But yeah, I don't think it's worth giving up Siakam just for the 4th pick and their lesser young talent.

OG for the 4th pick and a future 1st that someone linked from a tweet in another thread? sure.

Alperen Shengooon is the one to go for. Forget about Jalen Green.
I can see Sengun being targeted in the playoffs, kinda like Sabonis. Good offensive player though.

Better than vv being the target during a play in game.

I didn’t understand the scoot stuff. He doesn’t sound a Masai guy at all. Black sounds like a total raptor type.

He showed up in person to scout Scoot.

True, but don’t forget about Miller and Cissoko.

Houston would do that in a heartbeat.
For us to agree I think they’d need to add Jalen Green and a few unprotected frp’s.

I hate the play in. Foolishness. It should 9 your out and 8 your in. Almost like TV does not want to package 1 vs. 8.

No doubt but it being the offseason and how desperate people appear to be for changes, I thought I’d throw this out there.

You don't gotta justify this thread, pretty interesting. It would be really something if we somehow got the 3 and the 4 while trading our next first for poetl.

polo007 wrote:Trade proposals for the Rockets’ fourth pick in the 2023 NBA Draft - The Athletic

Toronto Raptors

Rockets receive: O.G. Anunoby

Raptors receive: K.J. Martin, Tari Eason, the No. 4 pick in 2023 and a 2025 first-round pick (top-six protected)

Why Houston does this: New Rockets head coach Ime Udoka is known for his defensive acumen, and Anunoby is one of the game’s most versatile and physical ball-stoppers around. From a basketball perspective, it’s a nice fit, especially for a team that wants to turn things around. Houston would have to think twice about giving up on Eason’s upside after only a year, and the Raptors likely ask for even more draft compensation. But considering Toronto’s organizational position as a team in flux, I wouldn’t consider anything off the table. Pascal Siakam was another option, but his price tag might be too high for Houston. Anunoby is on a team-friendly deal relative to his on-court impact. Less than $20 million annually? Sign me up.

Eric Koreen (Raptors beat writer): The positives: Due to the Rockets’ financial situation, the Raptors take on precious little salary, clearing things up with the rest of the roster, including their three unrestricted free agents. Eason is a nice future piece, although not necessarily a core guy. That’s obviously where the fourth-overall pick comes in, which is the complicating factor. Both Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller make a lot more sense next to Scottie Barnes than the players who are likely to go in that 4-8 range. There are plenty of intriguing players, but bigger guards/wings with plus playmaking and questionable shooting are awkward fits. The 2025 first is nice, and nicer still if we can loosen the protections. Still, from both an age and fit perspective, Pascal Siakam makes more sense to deal than Anunoby, and the real prize for the Raptors is more likely to be found in a trade with Portland than Houston. This is a reasonable offer, and it’s something to be revisited on draft night if other things fall through. For now, it’s a no.

That deal seems kind of ridiculous for us. I get that the 4 pick has less value than the three, but we'd be picking up guys who can play and have little salary and another pick to boot seems like a lot for us. I'm not sure the trade dealine deals for OG looked nearly this good. Seemed like 3 late firsts maybe.

can't imagine Scoot lasting till #4. Possibly Miller, likely Amen, maybe Black/Ausar/Whitmore?

Why are people still hung up on pg by definition. A lot of us agree we need high iq talent regardless of position. We have scottie who is a playmaker and a lot of people have suggested we run an offense similar to Denver, using scottie in the same way as jokic. We don't need a traditional pg, we need talent and high iq, people who know hiw to play the right way.

If I'm Houston, this is exactly the kind of thing I leak if I'm trying to move #4 for veteran help and haven't been getting good offers to date.

Yup. Positionless basketball has arrived, at least on offense. Just go get the best player. At four, if you make the right pick, you can draft someone who can be a focal point of an offense.
