Nate Bjorkgren, Trevor Gleeson, Chase Buford, Earl Watson, Patrick Mutombo as potential assistants with ties to Griffin, save for Buford who I just like.

If I was in charge of hiring the coach, I would ask Giannis who is first choice would be, so I would know which name to scratch off the list first.

Then thank God you're not in charge.

I think Griffin will do fine, feeling optimistic. Loved his post game interviews, very likeable and relatable players coach with next level D knowledge.

You and I are back on the same page again. All is right with the world.

Griffin is the type of guy Herb Kohl would have hired, after his first five choices turned the Bucks down. This is Terry Porter

That said, we’re in it now. So we just hope for the best.

When you have arguably the best player in the league who will be turning 29 this season, you have to hire a proven head coach. This isn't the time to be taking a chance on a guy like Griffin.

The incompetence by the Bucks just continues to amaze me.

Hey remember when the Cavs had a 31 year old best player in the league and hired a first time head coach and won a title in his first season?

How would you have felt about us hiring Charles Lee?

Also this isn't the vibe I'm getting at all on the Raps board.

Warriors hired rookie coach Kerr in 2014 and won ring in his first season. Kerr had 0 experience. Wasnt even assistent. Rebuilding move I guess.

Hiring Kerr was a huge dice roll and it worked out. Maybe Griffin works out too.

But maybe Griffin don't work out and if that ends up being the case, you just wasted a big chunk of Giannis' prime. Giannis will be 29 this season, it's not like you have a ton of time to Wait and see with Griffin and it's not like Giannis' game is going age well. He's already regressing compared to what he was 3-4 years ago.

It's not a chance I would be willing to take at this point if I am the Bucks.

Plus when Kerr took over the Warriors, their core was still young. I'd be more open to hiring Griffin if Giannis was was around 23 or 24.

I wouldn't see the point firing Bud in that scenario but I guess there never was any plan to replacing him as evidence by us signing some other assistant first time HC.

Kerr is the exception.

I mean, I obviously hope Griffin is successful, it’s just a really bold hire. Hope it works out, but I would have rather played it safe with a retread.

We meet again, this time no longer foes...lol.

You hit the nail on the head with this being a classic Herb Kohl type of hire.

I just said in my previous post that I might be more open to Griffin if Giannis was a few years younger. The Buck's time is now, we don't have time to wait and see with Griffin.

But like you said, all we can do is hope for the best.

That's really not what the Raps board were saying. They were happy that they are getting a full reset of coaching staff after the craziness of last year

I’d probably feel a bit better about the hire if Griffin was known more as an offensive guy. Hopefully he has a solid plan for us to be better on that end in the playoffs.

Nurse 'pulling out' is just cover to save his reputation. Nurse didn't make the cut for whatever reason. They preferred Griffin

Griffin has been a highly regarded assistant coach for years and was Nurse’s lead assistant on a championship team. He has a reputation as a strong defensive and player development coach, including being singled out specifically by Jimmy Butler as critical for his mindset & development as a player early in his Chicago days. And if that isn’t enough he literally has a PhD in organizational leadership lol. And here’s the man himself on this exact subject:

Or I guess we could just trash the guy and consider him a puppet HC before he’s even coached a single game, all because our two best players liked him.
