Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Lively is nowhere close to what Rob was as a prospect. I wouldn't waste a lottery pick on him. He's very talented at block timing but he's a cone on offense and his defense elsewhere is nothing special.

Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

I was looking at the NCAA stats site and Dillon Jones, at 6'6', is number 7 in total rebounds in Div 1 College Basketball this past season. Tshiebwe is number 2.

Is there a non-lottery player in this draft better than Juhan Begarin?

Craig Porter that they worked out has a pretty wild statistical profile as well.

Yes. Guys like Porter and Jones (old players, in a smaller conference) can put up some wild numbers.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

You're basically asking, if Begarin was in this year's draft, high high would he go?
IDK, it's a tricky question. He's 20 now, will be 21 in August. Has been a good solid player in France for the past couple years. Strong frame, good athleticism. Has put up decent numbers, made all-star team in France top league. But shooting from 3 somehow has gotten worse each of the past 2 years.
I'm guessing if he was in this year's draft he'd go around mid 2nd round. Which is where he went when we drafted him 2 years ago. So you maybe take him around pick 45? That means every player from pick 15 to 44 is a non-lottery pick that's better than him.
I could see someone *maybe* picking him around 35 or 40 this year. But more likely in the 45-55 range. He might not even get drafted if he was eligible this year.
He's a good player but is a wing who can't shoot and will be 21 soon..(the top 40 picks are typically guys who are younger than that)

Re: 2023 NBA Draft
I don't think there are too many wings in this year's draft better than Begarin, and after Wembanyama, I do not think there are any bigs better than Sasha Vezenkov, who is an absolute horse and was the MVP of Euroleague. Alas, the Kings own his draft rights. Plus he's 27 so would probably go undrafted by most of the idiots who draft for NBA franchises.

Ok anyone who puts in time for a list gets my +1.. When I have more time I will get into some likes and dislikes about the rankings.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Gimme TJD. This team really needs a guy that can finish dynamically inside like that.

Payton Pritchard wasn't even in the top 60 on most boards so maybe we can count him as a 2nd round hit.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Tshiebwe is a hard worker, good energy prospect but would never get minutes on this team due to his inability to shoot 3s. Is what it is. Thats the most important thing this organization looks for in a player.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Impressive play by a 6'10" freshman. Defends in space vs a smaller, quick, skilled wing. Blocks the shot near the rim, gathers the rebound, pushes it up the floor himself, goes coast to coast (with a defender all over him yet is still able to keep control of the ball while pushing it quickly up the floor) and then goes up strong at the rim, draws the foul.
?s=20
Will probably be off the board by our pick, but you never know..

Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Seems very very much like a Brad guy. Kind of ignored him because of his name is a combination of annoying and boring lol. Brad loves versatile, thick strong dudes.

You gotta figure he's staying in the draft because he has 1st round guarantee or at least something close to it.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Just a reminder that not everything is at seems. Caleb Martin just played Game 7 of the ECF like the League MVP would.
Here's his NBAdraft.net review from 2019:
(FYI: Oak Hill Academy, turned down offers from Rutgers & Providence to Attend NC State, Transferred to Nevada to join his brother).
https://www.nbadraft.net/players/caleb-martin/
By the way, he went undrafted.
Signed with Charlotte, was waived after 2 seasons.
Signed a two-way with the Heat, got converted to a regular contract 5 months later.
Signed a multi-year deal with the Heat last summer. Man, is he underpaid at $6,479,000 with 2025 a Player Option.

But what do guys like Caleb Martin and Austin Reaves have in common?
-6'5"
-Plays the 2 and/or the 3
-Good physical and mental toughness
-Strong work ethic
-High basketball IQ
-High confidence
-Stayed in college till age 22 or 23
-Versatility on both ends of the floor
There's some guys in this draft class who could possibly fit into this bucket: Jordan Miller, Jaime Jaquez, Kobe Brown, Colby Jones to name a few few..
