The amount of time that has been spent in both parts of this thread pre-freaking out about candidates like Nash and Redick that don't even appear to be finalists is hilarious. Darko Rajakovic has been one of the least discussed names in these threads, and he is likely one of the finalists.

https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/insider/story/_/id/33849936/nba-coaching-prospects-here-top-names-league-insiders-extolling-scenes
People all over the coaching world, as well as players who have benefited from his grasp of the game, rave about Darko Rajakovic. That makes a lot of sense when you consider he has been poached twice -- Phoenix and Memphis -- over the past couple of years by incoming head coaches assembling a staff from scratch. A European head coach has yet to break through with a sustained career in the NBA, but Rajakovic (Serbia) has the intellect and passion for the craft that makes him the current morning-line favorite to become the first. The man has authored academic-journal style articles about the evolution of the pick-and-roll, but he's anything but academic in his warmth with players and fellow coaches.

Nash was a total disaster in Brooklyn. Even the young players like Cam Thomas didn't seem to respect him. KD who initially advocated for him called out the team's lack of preparation for games. He makes absolutely no sense for us at this specific junction. It's the type of move that can quickly turn the front office and organization into a laughing stock. Just not worth the gamble. Really hope the interview is nothing more than a favor and to gather some intel.

so many times coaches have been hired even though their team is still in the playoffs. being hired doesnt mean they get up and leave right away, they finish out the playoffs.

I've never once heard of an assistant coach announcing he took another job then staying for another playoff round.

last year mike brown was hired from warriors during the 1st round; warriors went on to win chip
was hired may 8th, playoffs finished in june

year before pelicans hired willie green from suns during palyoffs, suns went to the finals.

kenny atkinson was also hired during the playoffs but he accepted then declined, but again another proof that coaches get hired while they are still working.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/33883320/sources-sacramento-kings-hire-golden-state-warriors-assistant-mike-brown-head-coach
Brown will finish the Warriors' playoff run before moving on to his full-time duties with the Kings, sources said.

Oops. Mike Brown, Willie Green, Alvin Gentry.

Darko Rajakovic is the coolest sounding name left.

Wrong. Quinn is still coaching.

Just want to mention again that Scarliolo is also coaching his European team who is in the league finals until June 6.

It could be Adelman or Quinn as our ultimate target, but I also think both those coaches are up for other roles so I'd be more worried about those guys getting scooped. To me, it doesn't seem like there is any urgency for Toronto to get this done, so maybe they have their person and since there is no competition they are just waiting.

The last part wasn't directed at doug, it was directed at everyone having no patience. Tell me how it doesn't apply? If we are the only ones interviewing the guy.... why do you need it now?

It's kind of funny because when I was attending a basketball camp I met Steve Nash and Jay Triano ages ago when they came to run some drills and scrimmages for us and it was the most uncreative low-energy routine I had gone through there. They imparted 0 wisdom and nobody really cared for what they had to say or the workouts we ran, everyone wanted to fall asleep. That's just my own small personal experience but I don't think he's the guy and certainly hope he isn't (Nash) and it doesn't surprise me he couldn't get the respect of a locker room. That's the last risk we need to be taking, we need a guy who is going to storm in here and steer this ship in the right direction, challenge and mentally stimulate his players and get them to have fun and make FVV his ***** if we resign him.

No one is targeting Toronto's targets anyways. There isn't a rush.

The article is in Spanish and quotes an Italian reporter, but here is the translation:
According to Andrea Tosi of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Scariolo is among the three finalists to succeed Nick Nurse at the Toronto Raptors, and is singled out as even more likely than Canadian Steve Nash , another strong candidate...
Currently his team, Virtus Bologna, is playing in the semifinals of the Lega Basket Serie A in Italy , with a 1-0 lead over Derthona Basket.
