Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
Mensah just feels like the next Brogdon, Bane type guy. Absolute stud defender. Yep he’s 25 and probably not going to have any leaps in his game going forward, although I think he is a pretty good shooter that was mostly ignored by his team offensively.
The sweat was sliding down Nathan Mensah's face. He was in a daze, trying to figure out when it would end. The former four-star recruit out of Findlay Prep in Nevada had never experienced anything like his first practice as a San Diego State Aztec.
"When we first came in, we were told that we had practice at 12," Mensah said when recalling his freshman year in 2018. "We had 30 minutes of defensive practice before the seniors joined us, which made me think, ‘are we going to do this the whole day? Just defense?' Lo and behold, we did 90 minutes of defense, and I was like, I've signed up to something different."
That "something" is what led Mensah and his teammates to the podium inside NRG Stadium in Houston on Thursday, as San Diego State addressed the media ahead of the program's biggest moment, the Aztecs' first appearance in the Final Four.
That "something" is a relentless defensive nature set by sixth-year head coach Brian Dutcher, who was previously the right-hand man to head coach Steve Fisher at SDSU since 1999 before taking over for his boss in 2017. In three of the last four years, the Aztecs have ranked in the top 10 in KenPom adjusted defensive efficiency. It's led to no shortage of winning

Some vids on emmuneys guy. I’d love to grab him but I think it’s going to take us buying a second in the high 40s range

Was part of the new CBA that if we’re above that second luxury tax, we can’t buy picks anymore?

I think that's right, but the draft is at the end of the league year. New CBA won't be in effect yet for this one.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
I'll throw Jalen Bridges from Baylor out there as another sleeper. Long swing forward type, multi-positional defender. Aggressive and foul-prone. Can get up and down the court and make plays above the rim on both ends. Really good touch inside the arc and a good candidate to potentially improve his range. Not related to Mikal or Miles.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
Can we buy an extra 2nd in each of the next 5 years before that’s no longer allowed?

Probably not because teams don't usually sell before the draft and there's a limit on how much cash you can send out in a league year.

I attended todays draft workout with RayJ. I think Jalen Bridges was there also.
I thought this dude Nadir Hifi (plays in France) was the best player, he kinda dominated whenever it was a 3v3 or scrimmage. Crafty lefty, uses his body well. Shot looks a little wonky but it was going in. Did a good job reading the PnR.
Also thought RayJ Dennis looked decent.

Getting Reece Beekman at #60 would be pretty sweet.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft Thread
Forgot to add: Griffin was there chatting with Horst most of the time.
Marjon, Ingles, and Jevon were there working out in the weight room. Think Meyers was in there also.
