His 7.5 attempts per game would be tied for 17th.

for reference that would be 2nd on hornets last year (made 3s by hornets last yr) - ball 4.0, terry, 2.6, kelly 2.3, pj 2.0, svi 1.9

2.9/g made 3s would be huge for us, no doubt

Miller as a Hayward replacement makes a ton of sense.
We know Hayward is gone at the latest in a year, maybe sooner.

Decent chance we don't have a first round pick next year (only lottery protected).

Forward rotation gets ugly fast, maybe even as fast as this year if Hayward misses a bunch of time. Not sure I am stoked to see JT Thor as the primary backup at the 3/4 behind Miles and PJ. Thor playing 25+ mins per night feels pretty gross.

Also, I know we expect Miles and PJ to be resigned, but the draft is before FA. Didn't everyone scream that we should have prepared for worst case last year and not traded the pick in case Miles wasn't signed?

Not sure how this is much different. On draft night our only forwards under contract will be Hayward on an expiring and Thor lol.

Actually Bridges is suspended for 10 games too... smh. Thor and Hayward both are going to have to play heavy minutes to start year.

What I'm gathering is that trading Eason for a sack of nickels continues to be stupid.

Would love to be persuaded Miller's BPA because of his stats, not how many forwards the Hornets have under contract.

He's number 2 on my board and I view him as a 2 guard. Scoots explosive but his handles are meh, shooting is meh, height is not good. Miller is bare minimum great at shooting, is a good athlete, can pass.

Its easy for me to be honest.

19/8/2/1/1 on 48/38/86% as a Freshman serving as the #1 option on the best team in the best conference in the country.

Am I wild for saying that's compelling?

Here's a reason for drafting Miller. It hopefully puts a death blow on the idea of resigning oubre or giving any more minutes to Bouk.

I'm being snarky, but seriously, please don't bring back oubre if we draft Miller.

Related, is there any world where mid level Miller comparison is similar to what Kelly gave us this year, maybe with slightly better passing and defense? Is that crazy? Super skinny, gunners with ability to get in paint and score/dunk, disrupt on D?

I'm harsh on Kelly because I think he's a doofus who doesn't know when to stop shooting, but I also picture him in Miami or Denver being lauded as a terrific bench player.

Kelly has all of the requisite skills to be a great player. He just doesn't have the mental ability to do so. Tyrus Thomas in wing form.

Dude was the best player on Bama and it wasn't close. They had nobody else that could score consistently.

He's too good looking. I'm not even kidding when I say that.

Bama was also the best team in the nation. Except for when they played San Diego State and everyone was awful. It happens. Seen it happen to my Dukies every other year for the last 26 years.

i played half a season of Aussie football with a strained groin, it really affected my acceleration and agility, I can imagine it must have been difficult for him to play like that at the end of the season.

I also know his offensive percentages drop like a rock against tougher competition. Why? I haven't seen that answered.

On the other hand Miller rates #9 in defensive impact among NCAA players (behind studs like Lively, Cason Wallace, and Jarace Walker and just ahead of Anthony Black) so I'm much more confident in his defense.

https://barttorvik.com/playerstat.php?link=y&sIndex=56&yvalue=Fr&year=2023&start=20221101&end=20230501

Question's if his offense suffers against NBA defenses, are we really happy taking a 3-and-D catch-and-shoot guy at #2?

I mean, if Scoot doesn't learn how to shoot are we really happy taking Markelle Fultz #2 overall?

If Miller doesn't become a better dribbler, are we happy with Marvin Williams at #2?

Bro this game can be played with all prospects all day. I've come to understand that saying a prospect will become a certain player is a disingenuous way of looking at things.

I like his length. Shooting. Potential to playmake and handle. He is just a first step or a dose of athleticism away from being tied for my favorite prospect in our range.

It is worrisome that his numbers tanked against better opponents. I am curious if it was the whole team struggled a but or if when he went against a better class of athlete he had issues. If the later is the truth then that does not bode well for his future in the league.
