Who is going to be the next raptors coach?

Post#1 » by SpezNc » Wed May 31, 2023 4:12 am

I don’t know if we can merge this poll within the “next coach thread“

But it’s interesting to have a new poll now that we are getting closer to the finish line.

My vote: Jordi Fernandez

Hope it is Jordi or Sergio.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

wait nobody thinks Nash is going to get it? Raptors HC + Team Canada HC. Makes too much sense whether I like it or hate it.

He should take the Jason Kidd route and become an assistant coach with us. Then get another HC job in a year or 2.

Gut feeling it will be Darko. He's interviewed twice, yet the buzz around his name has been oddly quiet,,,

I like either of Jordie or Sergio.

I see the players liking either of them. If we do in fact make the trade with POR, I feel like Jordie will be able to connect on a personal level the best and I bet for that reason he’s a VERY tempting choice because he also seems to have the fire & passion that I can see players liking or feeding off of. I think the only reason why they haven’t pulled the trigger on him is Sergio..

Sergio has a lot of the same fire & passion for the game but just a much deeper & proven resume. I can’t still see players liking him even if they don’t relate quite as much as Jordie but we know how much Masai values some “continuity” and familiarity. All I’ve heard is what a tactician he is. There’s obviously the existing relationship so a very good understanding of how each other operates and level of expectation. I can genuinely see him being a great coach in the league, my only question is if the team itself would have young players mature enough to buy in as much as they should. Jordie to me seems like he could connect and get them on board. But who knows maybe Sergio will be able to command a certain level of respect.

Obviously Raps are seeing what DEN is doing and probably thinking what if we built an offence like that with Scottie playing something like Jok so Adelman’s creativity is probably interesting to them but I’m just not sold he’ll be the kind of personality they’d want. If they hired Nash, then Masai would be Dumars 2.0 and killed this franchise lol I genuinely do NOT see him hiring him. I believe it’s down to Sergio & Jordie, my brain tells me they’ll go with what they know as they did with Nurse after Casey so Sergio is my guess but my gut says go for Jordie because he just feels like he’d great fit with a young up & coming squad that can build up to something together over the course of a few years. We’ll see what happens…

I would love to see us make one more playoff run with Steve Nash as our coach.

People seriously think the Raps FO is going to hire Nash? Why? Seemed Nets fans weren't fond of him. If Nash wants a coaching job he can take Team Canada's HC role once NN eventually vacates the position. Earn those stripes Stevie.

As much as I think Chris Quinn has a chance of being a great coach one day, it doesn't seem as though the Raptors even interviewed him once so I'm not sure he should be one of the poll options. JJ Redick and Charles Lee are also missing as options, considering both have reportedly interviewed with the team at least once.

Personally would love us to make history in the modern era and have FVV be a player-coach, but

If this team is serious about going young and moving on from vv/siakam, pick would be Jordi

If we’re sticking to the treadmill then JJ Redick for the lolzz

i think its Sergio Scariolo; lack of news on the nba front where things leak easily; they are just waiting for sergio season to end.

Isn't Chris Quinn still coaching in finals so makes sense no interviews

So it looks like mdenny has a burner account? The concept of a player coach is so far out of left field, much less with a player as divisive as fvv who has already been rumored to shipped away as early as last trade deadline... I have no idea who else is discussing this as a serious solution.

It's probably a joke Boogie.

And please, don't accuse people of having burner accounts.

No idea but a Euro Coach like Sergio would make us a smarter, more disciplined team.

I also would love Monty. Just don’t think it’s a fit for him. Jordi, seems like a fit for an assistant coach. Earl Watson can definitely Lead but again, may be more fit as an Assistant. I don’t know man.
