Re: Trade Thread Tread pt.2 2023-24 - (Off-season)
I just think that Tatum ain’t a leader. He can’t get to anyone’s face if needed. Plus he ain’t tough mentally. Same problems we had during the stevens days. No true leader. Stevens ain’t a leader, Joe ain’t one. Tatum and Brown definitely not a leader. Maybe a guy like lillard is what this team needs.

Smart and Rob
For Turner and any of the ff. Mathurin, duarte, nembhard or nwora.
White
Brown
Tatum
Gallo
Turner
Best offense and defense starting 5 in the league.
No weakness on offense, and you can switch horf for gallo for defense purposes.

Brown to portland
#3 to detroit
#5, #23, stewart and simons to boston.
Imo I think stewart will be fine in a 2 big lineup. Learn from Horford for a year and you have a great young replacement.
Still have pick #5 (maybe brogs and that can get og or siakam) and picks 23 and 35.
Simons/Brogdon
Smart/white
Tatum
Stewart/gallo
Timelord/horford

That’s a bad offensive lineup.
Stewart and Timelord are pretty much the same player. Both undersized bigs that can’t score on their own.
Plus, smart has to go man. Or at least go to the bench

Ideally #5 and brogdon replaces one of them.
That being said I think Stewart is a young horford in the making

Can he shoot? Horford was a beast during his atlanta days. Stewart strikes me as just a hustle player. Horf was one of the best when drafted.
Stewart stands just 6’8. I think we need to be bigger next season. Enough with the undersized bigs that guards like butler punishes inside.

He is my favorite player, but team overrules player.
I dont want to move him yet because I still beleve that he is an important part of the team. And to me at least, with someone like Simons in the backcourt(I really like this kid too) Smart is neccessary to alieviate pressure on him.
Also, Having Smart and Timelord on the team always means that the team defense is going to be top notch, regardless of the other players on the roster as the 2 of those guys are impact defenders.
IMO, in the same way that Curry has been a gamechanger offensively, Smart and Rob are that defensively.
If I need a defensive stop to win a game and I can trot out a lineup of
Smart
White
Tatum
??
Tmelord
I feel confident in getting the win.

That’s your preference so can’t fault you for that. I just think that Smart as a starter is what’s holding this team from taking off. If we get simons, then smart should go to the bench. Rob is great, but i’d rather have a myles turner that can protect the paint. A legit big that can score on his own. Sadly, with all those injury time Rob had, he failed to develop and add to his game. He has a nice touch, but don’t or won’t take them.

Turner would be nice but would need a beefy guy besidde him.
If there was a way to get Simons, Carter Jr AND Turner then **** yeah sign me up.

We don’t need Turner if we can get carter jr. i think turner is more attainable.

Re: Trade Thread Tread pt.2 2023-24 - (Off-season)
Turner isn't the answer. We saw that when he played with Tatum, et. al. in the world championships a few years ago.
This offseason will show us if Stevens has cojones. My guess is that they will do nothing and just play it back one more time. It's sad, really, but it's always easier to keep your head firmly in the sand.

Turner isn't going anywhere. He just signed a long term extension.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

I feel like the best thing for the celtics moving forward is for me to take over Brads job.

Outside the box thinking: trade Tatum bc his trade value is higher and he might not be good enough to be the best player on championship team
Trade Tatum and Brogdan to Dallas for Luka. Checks out on trade checker Trade ID #7821184

Weren't you one of the posters who complained about giving up the pick swap in 2028 to get Derrick White? (just kidding)
Brown and Brogdon have to go-- Brown because he's not a fundamentally sound player and Brogdon because he's a 5th wheel now that White has emerged as a star. They were almost as effective as a team with Pritchard as the 3rd guard.
In return for those two players they need a competent big who can score inside and a wing. They are crazy to give up Smart, because as Ainge said, if you trade him away you'll spend the next five years trying to find someone like him. But I might give up Smart in a deal that brought back a younger version, like Davion Mitchell.
Or how about Brown to Detroit for Bojan and Cunningham? Then you could deal Brogdon to Chicago for a resigned Vucevic, or get one of Houston's young bigs.
But it's all idle speculation because the Celtics are probably going to pay Brown and continue to disappoint.

Hope everyone realizes their is a 99.9% chance Tatum and Brown are both wearing a Celtics jersey next year. The only real question is how much Jaylen Brown gets on his extension? I mean if you want to stay in the real world.
On a side note, Malcolm Brogdon has done it again to another team. Brogdon probably is going to get surgery and not be ready for next season. Celtics probably won't be able to trade him and can probably count on 40-45 games from Brogdon next year. Stevens knew what he was getting into with Brogdon.
