Oh yes of course it always had to be “the other team” that leaked it *eyeroll lol. So of this laundry list of leaks that came out, it’s far more logical to conclude that its always the “other team” of what would border on league wide conspiring to leak the Raptors’ interests even if there is no “other team” in Nurse’s case lol the cognitive dissonance is incredible.

Just a quick point of order, there are a million people posting **** online about every team. Some will get things right from time to time. It doesn't necessarily mean there was a leak from any side.

Ahhh yes of course another incredibly convenient coincidence to explain more than a half dozen leaks.

It’s far more likely the leaks from local media about letting go of Nurse or Ford hearing we liked Barnes is that they stumbled across it on a random Reddit post or something lol & all the rest is just opposing teams conspiring to leak everything against the Raps. Smh imagine using this level of cognitive dissonance with any other thing in your life where there’s a common denominator during each occurrence and simply refuse to believe that thing plays any role in it happening lol you guys are really something else.

Phil on this forum "Where there's smoke, there's fire" means nothing. It's like telling a chain smoker they're gonna destroy their lungs and them coming back with "but how do we KNOW FOR SURE?!?!?"

The Raps can literally trade Siakam and VV for draft picks / prospect and still come back with the lineup of:

Poeltl
Barnes
OG
GTJ
Scoot

That team would compete for a play-in spot.

I disagree, I think that's a 30 win team.

I'd say mid 30s, around the pacers/magic/wiz level. Only needed 40 wins to make the play-in this year.

It definitely is competitive for a play-in spot, and that’s without allowing for the fact that there would be at least one starter level player coming back in a Siakam deal.

Scoot is 19 yr old rookie at PG, going to be plenty of mistakes. Play in spot? Stop the homerism.

I think they've feigned these sentiments before, so it's hard to tell if they're serious or not. We know their actions have always been opposite, except after the Rudy Gay trade, and then they quickly changed their opinion.

To me, it reads more like what they were doing at the deadline, and what they've done in previous summers.

He also said this is likely his last chance to get paid. If a team with cap space wants him, I'd be worried but most of those teams aren't competing either or don't have a need for him.

and it doesn't take much to compete for the play-in currently. Only 4 teams last year didn't have any possible chance. All the other teams had at least 33 wins and were at least somewhat in the mix. There's a lot of parity currently, especially in the middle.

I did read it, they won't be competitive for play in spot with a rookie PG. Maybe read my own statement before knee jerk reactions. Being 7 wins out of a spot might as well be 20 at that range.

He had back issues in his rookie year that seem to have gotten worse. I suspect he will only play at best 80% of the games in his next contract. His back affects his shooting and defense.

"play in spot" doesn't infer actual or competing for. Maybe brush up on reading comprehension to avoid your personal biases. You don't have to be combative in all your posts, it is an option. Brutal.

100% The Toronto Raptors are first and foremost a business. This is the truth.

What’s questionable is why people think they’ll shy away from a rebuild/retool because “it’s a business”. The ‘Ship was huge for business. Really put them on the map and it generated an insane amount of money, I’m sure.

The businessmen in charge liked that a lot, I’m guessing, and they certainly will have noticed a downtick in revenue the last couple of years, which they probably don’t like so much.

These are some smart people and I can’t imagine they don’t understand that a perennial contender will generate more money than a treadmill team. They’ve witnessed it first hand.

They’re a season or two away from selling out every night regardless of which direction they choose to go, but I believe they’re smart enough to realize the path to continued and consistent future success and huge profit is not the one where we “run it back”.

I’ll be shocked if real change isn’t on the horizon. FWIW.

How is saying a rookie PG is going to hurt your team's performance early in their career trolling exactly? I'd love to hear this explanation. Player with the ball in their hands the most is going to make mistakes.

He sold me when I heard him say this about "positionless basketball" which the Raps are obsessed with:

"...positionless sounds really good, but a lot of times it gets, you know, misunderstood. You cannot be trying to do too much and at the end you do nothing."

Which to me signifies how he understands that positionless basketball is BS. You need guards with guard skills, wings with wing skills, bigs with big skills. If you can find special athletes for each position fine, but you can't force guys into doing things they struggle at or allow them to attempt it all the while vastly underproducing. They have to be able to achieve the tasks that players at the given position are required to achieve in order to be successful.

Did you see Miamis lineups last night? They had 5 perimeter players on the floor. They're in the finals.

Positions really don't matter as much as talented players with high iq. In today's nba, shooting the 3 is also a priority. Our problems have nothing to do with being positionless.... they have to do with things we've discussed ad nauseum, I.e inability to shoot the 3, inability to create off the dribble, inability to pass to the open man and create good looks... its a talent and systemic issue not a positionless issue.

"Positionless basketball" is honestly just a BS term thrown out there to refer to when teams field players who are so good they're collectively capable of doing everything on the court at a proficient level offensively and defensively while having the physical attributes to guard multiple positions defensively.

If you can assemble that, great. But priority goes to achieving that offensive and defensive proficiency (ie actual basketball skill) over "defensive versatility" because of physical attributes.

Defensive versatility is a part of proficiency. So us offensive versatility. That's part of the reason teams go small as well, so they can space the floor and not have a one dimensional centre out there that brings nothing offensively. That's why positionless basketball exists. It's more nuanced than just saying positions don't matter, but at the same time plugging in players based on positional archetype is definitely obsolete in today's nba. You need 5 players that can execute the gameplan effectively thats pretty much it. That's the definition of positionless.
