What's with the Brogdan trade talk? He was our best guard for big chunks of the year and makes peanuts

Fake trade #2021
Boston Celtics Receive: Karl-Anthony Towns
Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, Derrick White, 2024 First-Round Pick, 2026 First-Round Pick
Replace Brogdon with one of Smart/White and I would give it some thought.
Absolutely do that deal if its Williams, Brogdon and 2 picks.
not touching it otherwise.

This is such a gross misrepresention of the truth that one has to argue if you watch games or just read math.
IT has never been a core member of the team during this entire run.
Irving participated in one playoff run with us and it wasn't very good.
Kemba and Hayward were NEVER ahead of the Jays on the depth chart.
Not one time ever. Period.
You're trolling lolol.
Bruh, Jaylen Brown came off the bench until 2019-20 season. Did you just start following the Celtics? Welcome to the club. Misery loves company.
So what? After Irving left it was their team.
Smart came and went as a starter too, do you wanna ignore the 7 years before that just because he couldn't hold down the starting position?
lol after Irving left, they brought in a 3x all-star, who became the highest paid player on the team, while Tatum and Brown were only 21 and 22 yrs old, lightyears away from their prime.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

But there’s a difference with how the Warriors, Nuggets, Kings, Heat get their threes and how the Cs do it. I wish we had available data, but if I had to guess, players shoot a higher percentage via multiple passes vs. one-pass or no-pass possessions. Diversify the offense.
Commit to ball/player movement and defense. Prioritize team play and BBIQ. Replace/acquire players accordingly.
Right, the solution to shooting 30% from three isn’t to spam more 45% shots from two. The offense just wasn’t working that last game and that’s happened against too many elite defenses where the offense hasn’t just struggled but completely collapsed.
They need more movement (ahem D’Antoni) and a guy in the front court that can play versatile defense but also isn’t allergic to diversifying his scoring output like Al and Rob have become.
Rob was taking it to the rim more when he gets a smaller guy inside. He was looking for his offense more compared to previous years. I thought he was effective as a high PnR roll man and someone who flashed in the middle of the zone. Except he usually got pulled out in crunch time or is ailing (G7) and playing limited minutes.
EDIT: Our two most impactful players, Rob and White, are still underused/misused imo. I’d try to run more PnR using those two. White was really good at it when he had Poeltl as his PnR partner in SA. In Boston, he’s getting possession scraps with Jays/Smart as priorities.
Healthy year and a little offensive growth from Rob would do a lot for the roster.

OKC's a team to watch- they've got 30 million in cap room and a ton of future picks. Probably enough to pay us for Jaylen Brown and go get Towns, too.

If we keep JB and just tinker, what about Brogdon for John Collins?
We play big again. Smart, White, JB are your 3 guards. Tatum, Collins, Rob, Horf are your frontcourt.
Pritch/JD/Hauser/Gallo fill in.
Not sure what you do with Grant in that scenario.

This has been the Jays team since Irving left. I don't care what usage stats, starter status or whatever anyone uses to debunk it.
When Irving and Horford left, this was about the jays.
We weren't winning titles with the alleged core of Hayward/kemba/Smart. No one actually believes that was a thing.

We can agree to disagree.
Again, when Kyrie left, we brought in a 3x all-star who was in his prime, was our highest paid player and made another all-star team in his 1st season in Boston. Clearly he was a core piece, imo. Tatum and Brown were only 21 and 22 - lightyears away from their prime.
I already said all of this lol.

Collins is better than Horford and Timelord in the frontcourt together.
Our front court is **** awful and it bumps Smart up the chart for offense. Smart should be 4th or 5th option. Give him targets to pass to.
Horford...might be ok for another year at 10 million coming off the bench behind Timelord at 22 minutes per game average..sure
Grant disappears
Timelord is never healthy and has such limite offense.
Collins is a legit lob threat and 3pt treat. would help

Collins is not a good fit next to Rob, good with Horford though. Collins is most effective as a P&R lob threat who can pop out for the occasional 3. He's struggled with the stretch 4 role they have tried to force him into since they got Capela. If we did your proposed trade then, IMO, you'd want to line it up as:
Smart / White
Brown
Tatum
Collins
Horford / RWilliams
or
Smart
White
Brown
Tatum / Collins
RWilliams / Horford
Collins really isn't very good though. Likely ATL gives up draft compensation to shed some money on him. He's negative value league-wide.

I'm sorry but if you can get an excellent quality big by moving a guard, draft picks and RW3 you do it in my opinion. I am off the RW3 train. RW3 is hurt every year, when they need him the most he is never there, no offensive game and he wasn't the same defensively this year. If the right deal is there, I have no issues moving RW3. RW3 has played in 52% of the games in his career.

I just find this type of trade impractical on the payroll. RW3 plus a guard is close to $30M in salary. So you're trying to bring in a $30M player? Are you also trading Brown for multiple role players? Because if you're re-signing him or trading him for a different big salary star player then I don't see how you fit this "excellent quality big" into the payroll structure.

Your replacing $30+ million with $30+ million. There is no difference.

But what about replacing the guy you're downsizing. In your hypothetical trade we're moving a guard and RW for a big. So we're left with:
2 of Smart/White/Brogdon
Brown
Tatum
Horford
New Big Man
We need to add another guard/wing to replace the minutes lost, but we don't really have the means to do so now. How do we fill in that rotation so we aren't down to the bare bones? You can go with a minimum guy, but then you have to expect minimum production.

I want allen still.
Or wcjr
Those are ideal front court guys.
Still think Brown and Timelord for Harland and allen could be a thing.
Brown, brogdon and Kornet
For
Garland, allen and wade
Garland/pritchard
Smart/white
Tatum/??
??/gallo
Allen/horford
Still needing a starting pf and a backup sf.
But have draft and taxpayers mle.
Look to houston for 1 of their many pfs.

Don't see that as likely... Garland>Brown and Allen>RWilliams.
