I understand frustrations with AD but there is simply no Replacement for his defense. We cannot give up that aspect on that side of the ball.

Re: Lakers offseason 2023
3&D options ala Danny Green, KCP plus one strong bih. Brook L ideal who could ne x factor stretch gube. AD defends perimeter and Brook at the Rim, Lebron on passing lanes.
What about contracts with Rui, Russell, Reaves? 2/3 od them would stay i think and at least one od Beasley, Lonnie, Schroder is have to gone.
Draft? Your franchises historical massively underated on draft success conversion with high/low positions. Could ne trade bait, but nit neccesarry

.....when he's healthy. See, that's the sticking point. He's earned the nickname "street clothes" for a reason. And even when he is healthy, you get these "up and down" games. I don't think anyone has an issue with the AD that showed up this post-season. Sure a couple guys nit-pick here, nit-pick there...but on the whole, Laker nation was incredibly happy with the AD we saw these last couple months.
But would it come as a huge surprise if we never saw that level again? Wouldn't shock me at all. He's now 30...having suffered a whole host of injuries to date. So how much are you really giving up, if chances are he won't be there when it matters? Davis has missed 136-ish games in his 4 years with us. Prob missed about that much in NO as well. So his turning 30 is a real thing. There is zero logic to assume that it would do anything but get worse, as the injuries continue to rack up, and the sands of time fall.
And let's add to it, that the decline of Lebron has started in earnest. He's gassed at the end of games. Clear for all to see. We need someone who can shoulder that load more and more. Not less and less. I wouldn't play Lebron more than 30 minutes moving forward. You can't have a guy who misses an average of over 1/3rd of the season as your partner to a 40-year old. Won't work.
We got a great post-season out of AD. I don't hate him at all. But the reality is there in front of us. His stock will prob never be higher than it is right now. This is the time to sell.

Re: Lakers offseason 2023
To me, the Lakers have 2 pretty clear paths:
A) You somehow find a 3rd star. It would prob be a 1-2 year rental. Prob someone older. Basically the Westbrook move, except it has to be one that doesn't suck. Could you get Dame? Something like that. I don't think Kyrie is that player....but if you got Kyrie, and he actually played, and worked out....it's a maybe. Someone who can shoulder the regular season. Someone who spreads the floor...can hit those outside shots. Can make plays. You get the idea. Anyhow....you get that 3rd star.....and get some other veteran players (couple bigs!) and do the whole "last hurrah" thing. If everyone works out, and we go into the postseason with Lebron, and Ad healthy and rested...we might make a splash. I think that we'd still have to rebuild after that one year....but a long, and painful rebuild tastes much sweeter on the heels of a title (or even a really close push).
If not, then it's plan B) Move Lebron and AD while the Iron is still at least warm. Bite the bullet, and rebuild. See if you can get a couple picks out of it. I think we have some young talented guys. If we were able to get some decent stuff for AD, Lebron, and Dlo....we could shorten the rebuild considerably.
I think keeping this team more or less "as is" would be a huge mistake. I don't think you'll ever see something close to the value for AD again. The math says he'll be hurt next season, and Lebron will be totally unable to shoulder anything on his own. Both players stock will drop....and we'll be right here next year....only with zero cards to play.

Well I will say this, the night Bron broke Kareem record he was consoling AD, saying I Love you man, many asked why? Especially after Breaking Kareem s record? Speculation was that the front office was trying to dump AD. If true, the office certainly has had that conversation. So there's that

There's no chance they move AD unless someone like Embiid forces his way out of Philly.
He was by far our most important player during these playoffs.

Re: Lakers offseason 2023
So far I feel like Lakers have to let this off-season play out for Russell and Rui. Let other teams set the price for them. Reaves we don’t have an option he’s going to sign some sort of trade fee sheet. So just match that as soon as we get it.
Some free agents I’d be looking at.
Guards
Jevon Carter
Aaron Holiday
Damion Lee
Josh Richardson
Bigs
Trey Lyles
Christian Wood
George’s Niang
Mike Muscala
Yuta Watanabe

It seems like the Lakers are keeping an eye on that punitive luxury tax, most likely release Beasley and Bamba, use their precious $ to keep Rui and Reaves so I'm thinking 1 TPMLE and the rest Vet Minimum so it's going to be tricky IMO.
Here's my wish list not necessarily in order
1. Trey Lyles. Good size mobile 6-9 who shoots a decent 35-36% from 3.
2. Brook Lopez, old but still reliable, probably looking at higher than TPMLE, but he's from here and might take a discount.
3. Josh Richardson, defense and decent 3.
4. Justin Holiday, 6-6 switchy defender , 36% from 3.
5. Terrence Davis, good defensive guard also hit's decent 3's.
6. Shake Milton-
7. Seth Curry, excellent marksman but defense is a concern.
I don't mind keeping Wenyen Gabiel.
8. Terrence Ross, listed at 6-7, also a good shooter but defense might be a concern.

I was for trading AD every time he gets injured and need at least a month to recover, provided of course they will get 1-3 solid players in return.
But when he came back from his last injury, the guy manned up and endured various pains in his body, continued playing and I think "only" missed 2 games since then. I still get frustrated whenever he finish several games with just 19 pts or less because I felt, he can do more on offense.

Constructing a roster considering the numbers is a lot to figure with the new constraints, I would lean towards more of a defensive roster. Meaning I believe they will retain Dennis

Re: Lakers offseason 2023
I say the priority is to keep Reaves then Rui. Then we start with AD, Reaves, Bron and Rui or Vandy. Then target the best player available in the free agency. Depending on who we get, the starting four is very adjustable. Either we go big and have AD play at 4 and Reaves or Bron at point or we can get a PG then have AD at C.

Re: Lakers offseason 2023
In case D'Lo walks for nothing i would:
Retain Rui+Reaves
Resign Schroeder with MLE
Sign Josh Richarsdon with BAE
Sign Tristan Thompson vet. min.
Trade Beasley + #17 for Buddy + #26
That would be
Reaves / Buddy / Vando / Lebron / AD
Schroeder / Richardson / Rui / Bamba / Thompson
#26 / #47 / Christie / ...

That’s a good lineup. I’m inclined to retain and give Lonnie more minutes and S&T Schroeder. If we can get the right PG return, I’m sending him packing together with D Lo and a pick.
If Rob could somehow swing a three or four team deal for Tyus Jones, I think he would be a great fit, but I know it’s a bit pipedream-ish.

buddy, TJ, #32, #55 ... to Beasley, Bamba, and #17
sign Portis, Love, Rui, Reaves and Tristan
if we are making a bigger moves... LeBron to Cavs (young talent that could be had for ticket sales for Cavs) or Miami (Butler and Caleb) .... AD to Portland (Simmons, Sharpe and #3... flip D'Angelo and #3 for bridges and Seth)

You can’t sign and trade Dennis, they don’t have bird rights on him.

Read we can decline beasleys option but still retain bird rights and sign him to like 5mm/yr. Minor move but def should if we can. Small price to pay on off chance he gets his stroke back (only downside is he has noodz of ham and can somehow play 25mpg when he’s going 0-15)
Warspite:
Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

Is there anyway we can trade for an Isaiah hartenstein or Walker Kessler type? We literally lose to the likes of the rockets when AD sits bc the defense is so bad

Hartenstein maybe.
Kessler, no way. 3rd in ROY voting and a late pick which means he's cheap. Possibly one of the best contracts in the league.
Would like to see how Bamba works though.

I would love Lopez and Klay same with Bruce Brown but I don’t think they are realistic. Funny you mention been thinking about Pritchard. Maybe something like Pritchard and Muscala for Vando and min contract like Weynen or Harrison.
