You just cannot have 75-80M tied up on those two. Look at the Wizards with Beal. That is exactly where I see the Raps with Siakam in 4 years.
Siakam's value will likely never be higher than it is now. I am not even advocating that it HAS to be youth and draft picks coming back. It can be a similar level player, as long as he is in a contract situation that is more favourable to the Raps at the current moment. Let someone else max out Siakam.
Exactly , I would to see Fred resign at 25 million and Siakam at 35-38 million because they want to give our FO cap space to improve the roster. That is not going to happen and then you are left with your two top paid guys not good enough to carry teams and no money to have quality depth. It's an easy choice, if these two guys were getting this team to the playoffs and wining a a couple rounds then you have something to build on. We missed the playoffs of 2 of the last 3 years and last season was mostly because the RAPTORS went on a streak because teams they were playing were missing all their top guys because of Covid. It's easier to get Barnes or OG to fill the #2 role and hope that trading Siakam and Fred we can bring back some quality players along with Scoot who could be an elite talent.
