Terrence Shannon jr is your Caleb Martin in this draft. Hits all the numbers tbh and has done it for years. Should honestly be a first rounder.

And he’s returning. Illinois is going to be extremely good next year.

Edey returning to school and Tshiebwe staying in the draft. I thought that would be the other way around.

Tshiebwe might as well come out now, his stock won't get any higher and he's now an 'older' rookie, anyway. His path to sticking in the league is complicated due to his being a 'tweener', but if he focuses on his strengths in rebounding and deflections and can develop a passable 3 pt. shot he can be a solid rotation piece.
Edey to me looks like a career backup center. He would have been a high lottery pick 30 years ago. I'm sure he got a nice NIL deal going back to Purdue.

Re: 2022-2023 College Basketball / NBA Draft
Bad day for Calipari yesterday. I'm guessing they couldn't put together a nice enough NIL package to get Oscar to return. Chris Livingston staying in the draft is a head scratcher. Kahlil Whitney level silly, imo.
Cal needs to keep Antonio Reeves or it's going to be a really bad look. All that with rumors of an Aaron Bradshaw injury is scary going into the summer.
That said, the team will still be good, but we need to fill out the bench a bit. Ugonna Onyenso and Adou Thiero will need to make a big jump. Otherwise, there's really no continuity. But there also hasn't been as good of a freshman class as this one since probably the KAT, Devin Booker, etc team.

Also, I've said it before, but Oscar is a sure fire guaranteed role player in the NBA. If you want to draft someone who will be "a dog" and stick around for a long time, look no further than him. Paul Millsap type player.

Yeah, he's a guy I'd take as a dog type role player ala Grant Williams, with more rebounding and defensive skills to make up for the lack of a consistent 3 ball. Now if he can develop that, he will be on another level.

Still no reports that the Sixers are interesting in acquiring a pick.

Gotta think we'll be moving some of these guys to clear cap space and get cheap young talent if the anticipation is Harden leaving. I'd love to see us replace Harrell with someone like Tshiebwe who would be an excellent small ball C from day 1. He's an NBA playoff type player. Gets extra possession, shoots reasonably well from FT for a big man, one of the best hustlers in this draft, generates turnovers. Sometimes it's as simple as can the guy show up when it turns into a knife fight and he has shown the tenacity to do so when other Kentucky players simply refused. He averaged 19 rebounds in the three tourney games (10 OReb!).
Unfortunately, I think he'll end up being a first rounder. At least in my opinion he should be. He's a better version of Jarred Vanderbilt.
Need to show off I can run the PnR and finish easy baskets while rebound at an elite rate against other draft prospects? No problem:

Tankathon has him going undrafted. Statistical profile is awesome. I wonder if teams think they can "fix" his shot as that would make him the total package. Unlikely though since he'll already be 24 as a rookie.

I'm sticking with Oscar Tshiebwe, a la Paul Reed back in 2020 as my reference point.
They have to be solid analytically and Emoni Bates.... is not that.

Kobe Brown. He looks like a very good fit to our team.
This guy should be a first round pick material. If we’re looking to draft someone with a 2nd round, i think he’s the guy.

If losing weight allows him to become a switchable defender he could be very valuable. The offensive metrics are there.

Another one is Adama Sanogo. I like these 6’7” height 7’ wingspan guys with good shooting. He reminds me of big Al.
