Vogel has been my choice the last week. The Suns liked that he is a Championship Coach and Defensive guru. There is a good chance Kevin Young will stay on as a top assistant - seems like it is his choice from what I have heard.

Speaking with those close to Vogel
Player's coach, knows how to communicate.
Gives offensive players freedom
Will have defense on lock - knows how to guard it, not foul, not give up back door.
He just doesn't focus on offense enough - defensive guru

Like I said in tbe other thread maybe not the most exciting hire but Frank is a good coach. Now go get him the defensive personel he needs.

Coaching staff looks strong with this hire of a defensive specialist and also considering Young stays, who apparently was good enough to take the HC position himself.

If we can get him the right guys, like others have said, this could be really great especially since we might be able to keep Young (although he'll be getting a lot of offers in the future) for now.

I was reading about how the Celtics players really loved Udokas defense first style and how that helped the Celtics in 2022. Maybe if the roster can get the right guys we can have something like that.

And yet the Lakers made the WCF and the Heat are in the finals this year. Seems like anyone that thinks that was just a fluke has no leg to stand on.

I'm just saying the format was fake basketball and as such, given world events and concerns, the competition wasn't legitimate. They could still be good teams. That has nothing to do with what I'm saying.

What are you talking about? Those playoffs were tougher than any other playoffs, players were basically LOCKED into a place to just play basketball. The soft ones couldn't handle it and asked to be out of the process.

It was beautiful basketball and I enjoyed every moment. I give at that championship precisely an special value.

I **** hate the Lakers but I hate people who asterisk titles even more. It's just so lame. Yeah circumstances were unique but it was the same for every team so they earned it.

With that said, I do think the bubble environment was easier for guys to shoot in. But again everyone played in the same gyms so not dissing the Lakers.

I think in many ways it was easier because there was no hostile crowd or traveling so you just played basketball in an empty gym. Besides the Lakers benefited a lot in the bubble because AD and LBJ had a long break to heal up from their injuries.

In a regular season uninterrupted from Covid I doubt they win it all due to injuries.

It's not the usual process by which champions are determined in the sport of basketball and there was a massive disruption of play and focus overall. Everyone had to deal with it, but it doesn't mean it's legitimate.

Neither was the 60 game bull baseball season. Or any pro sports played without fans or with random cancelations or postponements or gimmick rules and manipulated playoff structures or game relocations or disrupted or rushed or truncated training camps and preseasons and ****.

Athletes are trained machines. Anything that disrupts their natural processes leads to diminished legitimacy.

Of course, basketball has been an illegitimate pile of **** since the 2002 WCF anyway.

In fact, I'd probably say that the 2022(-2023) seasons were the seasons where we kind of got back to legitimate sports. Baseball had/has the illegimate extra innings rules and **** so I don't know if that'll ever be the same anyway but yeah. And I'm a Braves fan and we won in 2021.

Anyway, I realize I'm in the minority on this opinion. Sports haven't been as enjoyable since all that ****.

Is actually Frank Vogel the only HC with a championship in the history of the Phoenix Suns?

I have been reading the list and I think the Suns have never had a HC with a chip. Interesting.

I like this hire. Much better playoff coach than Monty.

Offseason is off to a good start, now it's over to JJ.
