So yeah, looking to fill that void with an assistant who can relate to the players and speak their language. A former NBA player, preferably one who's under the age of 50 and/or is black and/or has coaching experience.

Someone like Sam Cassell, JJ Redick, Rasheed Wallace, Stephen Silas, Jarron Collins. Or perhaps Garnett?!

Maybe a guy like Kevin Ollie.

He was 1 of the 3 finalists for the Pistons HC job but didn't get it - they just hired Monty Williams.

Rumor has it, Ollie WILL take an NBA job somewhere though - although he didn't get the Pistons job, he did recently step down from his position running player development for Overtime Elite.

Did Brad say we are looking for someone with a lot of coaching experience or just NBA experience?

I think he's looking for a HC gig. I believe he's a candidate for Phoenix..

Just NBA experience.

But I think the word coaching was implied.

Yeah, but you know these days you should never assume anything. But i think Brad saw what we saw, these dude's need some expirience to help them on court and on the sideline.

I think Rondo always said he wanted to coach when he was done. We all know he would have no trouble calling out Joe or the players and he's one of the smartest guys to play the game. I think he would be an easy person to slot in who has two rings, was a multiple time all star, and always played bigger in big moments that players would respect.

Doc is still available as an assistant coach (unless the Raps hire him as I think they are the only team left without a head coach)

Wow! Its almost like NBA players actually listen to former NBA players that coach them. I mean thats a real novel approach. Someone should have started telling this to Brad Stevens in like 2016. This team is run by a bunch of morons.

But can't really get mad at Brad about who he brings in for players.

Doc only coaches stars. Raptors have no star players. He's probably going back to TV.

Rondo would think Joe is the biggest joke within minutes of being hired.

I don't know why you guys think Rondo has coaching clout. He got hired as...a student assistant, basically the team manager, by Kentucky. That doesn't suggest that the rest of the world holds his coaching abilities in very high regard.

I mean, if we can somehow land him, that'd be awesome. You do it in a heartbeat.

But I doubt he takes an assistant job. He is probably gonna be a HC somewhere, possibly taking a year off first after his brother just died.

If he's willing you have to make that call. But you also need to get former players too. Vogel would have been nice but at the end of the day the team was a day late and a dollar short. If they wanted him they could have had him this season. Brad chose not to pursue him. So I'm guessing it was just pure fan fiction by Celtics fans that he would ever become an assistant here while Brad is running the show.

Agreed. I'm strongly in favor of him getting a spot.

He doesn't have any coaching experience, so we would also need to add another guy who does have NBA coaching experience.

But Redick would be awesome because:

-Duke legend, who will be loved/respected by fellow Duke Alum, Tatum
-Sullivan is likely leaving for Houston. So Redick would give us a new shooting coach, as Redick is one of the best shooters of all time.
-Former NBA player, who had a long, successful career
-Young dude - only 38 yrs old so can relate to our guys
-Seems to be a sharp, well spoken dude on podcasts/on TV
-He had D-White on his podcast, he had Horford on his podcast. And he has said positive things about the Celtics in the media
