How far off is White from becoming "the new Kyle Lowry"?
His defense and shooting are on par.
Just needs to be more assertive on driving, right?

First 3 games, he kinda was. Even preferred getting switched on him. Could be Jimmy’s legs or DWhite learning Jimmy’s tricks or both, but Derrick’s been much better stunting him and just going straight up when Jimmy drives or posts up last 3 games.

Who thinks that? White is the most important reason Butler is struggling so much.
In fact I believe sometimes players still try to help White too much and leave shooters open for the pass.
Just let Butler try get his points against D-White and we'll be okay.
Same with Adebayo against Timelord.

It's the running narrative. I heard it so many times even from normally reputable sources like Thinking Basketball. Of course Ben Taylor never watches Celtics games and just regurgitates popular takes.

We need to start White as our PG and have him more involved in the offense, more touches, shots, etc.
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

If we're running it back, scale back JB's usage. Elevate/empower White as an onball creator more. Less turnovers, more opportunities for that ball to keep on moving. Decent scorer off the bounce. And improved three-point shooter. Similar to Maxey's role with Philly. Not really the PG but can take advantage of a scrambled defense or when the ball is swung to the weak side. But I also wouldn't mind using him as a PnR ballhandler the way they did in SA.

Related to the ON-OFF numbers…

When Tatum sits and White is on the floor, Cs had a +9.4 net rating.

Tatum OFF, Brown ON: +3.4
Tatum OFF, Smart ON: +3.1

Just under 500 possessions…
Jays both OFF, White ON: +11.4

Seems like a great stabilizer when stars are off the floor.

Good point they should run the White/Hauser/Tatum/Grant/Rob lineup a lot more than they do.

White is like a chameleon he can adjust to his environment and become unnoticable.
In a good way. He can defend and switch between wings and guards smoothly.
He can win possesions for you by making timely steals and blocks without gambling.

On offense he can take 5/10/15 shots a game just depending on the agressiveness of his fellows.
On-ball or off-ball he handles the ball as much as coaches ask him to do.
But he can create or take a shot when needed.
He never takes dumb shots or makes overambitious passes.
I'd reckon his teammates love playing with Derrick.

The core of the team for me right now is White/Tatum/Timelord and that's what I'd be building around.

White is such a good role player. But if he was half the player this board and the media believed he was we wouldn't have needed 6 games to beat the lowly Hawks and 7 games to beat the pitiful Sixers leading us to be gassed for the Heat.

Why did they let you back on when you add absolutely nothing to this board ?

The truth is we'll never be able to fully optimize White bang for the buck unless he becomes the main PG, but then that means moving Smart which is very very unlikely under Brad.
