Curious about Miles Sadler (2026) being left off the U16 team as well.
I know he is on the smaller side, but he was All EYBL First team for at least one session. Getting a number of D1 offers.
Seems like a guy who should be in the mix.

I was surprised that he wasn't on the U16 training camp list from last week. Not sure if he declined or if he was simply cut after the assessment camp back in April.

Based on the reports from social media, mainly Instagram, here's a list of some of the players who have made the team:

Jordan Charles
Isaiah Headley-Smith
Quinten Either
Caleb Roberts
Godson Okokoh
Kymani Samuels
Elijah Patterson

Headley-Smith and Okokoh played last season for the Royal Crown junior team. Okokoh is currently 14 and won't turn 15 until August.
Patterson is the younger brother of Addison Patterson.

I am curious about Toby Fournier - I expect domination in college and then in the league.

Another name to add to the U16 Team Canada roster:

Traymaine Belanger

That makes it 8 players. Hopefully Canada Basketball will release the full list shortly.

Fournier is in the class of 2024 and she recently committed to Duke. ESPN has her ranked as a 5 star and 13th overall in the class of 2024.

She helped Crestwood Prep (North York, ON) win the OSBA women's championship back in March and she was named OSBA MVP for the 2022-23 season.

I'm not an expert in women's basketball. But I don't see that high of a ceiling for Fournier. Sure, she's athletic and mobile, with good foot work. But not very tall or sturdy for a paint player the NBA and currently plays almost only in the paint. Not much of a shot to talk about and the touch in paint is not bad but not elite. She's be a good college player but I'm less sure about the WNBA.

For me Prosper is a superior long term talent and probably also other young perimeter players like Syla Swords and Deniya Prawl.

Fournier is a work in progress. She's very live and dunks in practice and sometimes in games. She is very raw offensively in the post with very rudimentary post moves. Her shooting form looks okay, but she lacks some touch and struggles at the free throw line and rarely shoots in games. Her handle is actually pretty good and can face up and get to the rim. Toby is a very good rebounder and really gets after it.

In short she a lot like Latecia Amihere, great run and jump but needs to work on her overall game. As Hair says the superior prospects are Prosper and Prawl who have a much better skill foundation.

Fournier's mother has a very interesting back story , starring in an iconic CBC program with a certain Aubrey Graham.

I am probably less of a women's basketball expert than you are but fans fall in love with dunks and athleticism and at her height coupled with the ease she dunks, she'll do well. If more women dunk like this in the WNBA, more fans would watch it. Even in the men's game, fans get caught up in athleticism over skill all the time. She's still young enough to develop to where she needs to be.

I need to do my homework on the other three but the future of Canadian women's basketball seems very bright right now.

Is Jalik Dunkley the brother of rapper and gang leader Jermaine Dunkley aka J-Noble? I heard Jermaine was really nice back in the day. They're originally from Mount Olive but I believe they moved out to Hamilton.
