it was said that Mighty Mouse was the one who was good at calling players on their bull -- and that it was a significant loss when he left.
Cassell should slide right into that role.

Great hire with Cassell! This is the most experienced assistant coach (in terms of NBA coaching experience, NBA playing experience, winning rings as a coach/player) we've had in a long time.

Plus, 1 of his rings came as a player for the Celtics.

Has a great reputation around the league.

Has interviewed for a few HC jobs around the league, too. So he's clearly 1 of the most highly qualified assistants in the league.

With Cassell onboard, I wonder if we would now bring on Rivers, Rondo or Posey...maybe all 3?

Huh?

Joe gets high marks for humility and listening. I know that's seemingly contradicted by his stubbornness -- but not really.

Rather, all signs point to him simply lacking versatility in what he got his team well-coached to do. He focused his energies on how they should play when they were generally at their best (core players, ball moving on offense, not panicking at game-end, etc.), and on helping ensure that such funks as they did have didn't last very very long.

The team had a pretty good season by any standard, but we want better seasons yet going ahead. What's needed now is teaching, player development and other coaching that will make them better when things aren't going so well.
